Reknowned for having one of the richest ecosystems in Africa, we embarked to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, from kampala to mbarara the 6 hour drive was eye opening the scenery breathtaking. On arrival we stayed at a lodge just beyond the park, the service was first class, we only had 2 days to experience the park so after the nights rest we started our trek expedition.

We had to part with $500/person which was a bit steep but fair compared to similar destinations in Africa and it only applies to foreigners. After paying the fee we started the trek with 2 porters and a tracker. Our target a family of gorillas, remember to dress for the trek as the park as its name appropriately suggests is very dense, come prepared with rubber/raincoat fabricated pants and coats, bug spray, packed lunch as you will pass through mountainous terrain, hills and rivers with little rest time. However most lodges offer packed lunch and you can rent the trek gears for 5-10$ from the local community thus also supporting them and their economy.

The 3 hours hike was picturesque from the murram, terrains beautiful roads, unique birds species everywhere and big game monkeys jumping all around us, alas finally we located our family of gorillas, the family had several mothers with their babies .This is what had brought us from thousands of miles away, the experience is beyond words though the rains did dampen our moments with the gorilla family. We were satisfied with the experience. The trip back to our camps was a bit tiresome since the roads were now muddy but the memories we had overshadowed all this .

Bwindi Impenetrable National park is a must visit for the adventurous minds out there.
