“We experienced a real sand storm which was quite an experience. But the large number and availability of the elephants make it a special place to visit.” - Thomasnevin

Amboseli - Elephants and Kilimanjaro

Views: 280 Visited: Jul 2014 Reviewed: Nov 18, 2014

This is a flat dry area with wetlands from mountain water runoffs. It is a gorgeous area with thousands of wildebeest roaming the plains. The area is reasonably small and easy to navigate with our Land Rover. Elephants and hippos are the main sightings here, along with breathtaking views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and sunsets. But it is the wetlands that are the most exciting, simply because most of the animals congregate there. So sightings are numerous and plentiful. Also, because of the water area, birds species are plentiful and easy to spot and photograph. The travel times to and from the lodge are not long and the lodge selection is wonderful....from the very reasonable to the expensive.
There is something for every budget.
