“Being surrounded by a pride of 18 lions in the central Kalahari watching the cubs play.” - Richard & Sandra

Beautiful Botswana

We have "safaried" several times before but this was something really special. Sue put together a tremendous package which enabled us to experience four different styles of safari.

The first the Bakwena Lodge on the Chobe river gave us the opportunity to witness, amongst many other things, a mourning elephant, something which we had never seen before.

Our second camp took us right back to nature at Footsteps across Africa, where the highlight was viewing two roaring lions at dusk.

The Lagoon Camp highlight was tracking a leopard and her two cubs for an hour and taking photos as she sat perched in her tree looking for lunch.

Our final lodge was in the Central Kalahari at Deception Valley where we spent a considerable amount of time with a pride of 18 lions. Sitting amongst the pride watching the cubs play fight on our last morning really was something we will never forget.

At all four lodges the staff were excellent, whether in their knowledge of the fauna and flora, their trecking skills or their care when I was not feeling very well.

All that was missing from a tremendous experience was our luggage, which I assume is having a holiday of its own somewhere in South Africa.
