“On arriving at the Mara River we were so lucky to see a very large herd of wildebeest cross near to us.” - Paul & Lorraine

My husband and I were delighted with the responsiveness, efficiency and general professionalism of Maasai Wanderings. We wanted to visit both the Ngorongoro Crater and go to the Mara River for a hoped for wildebeest migratory crossing. Donna in the office always replied to our many and varied questions extremely promptly and formulated an itinerary which was ideal for us.
The vehicles were not plush, but they were utilitarian and exactly what was needed for the bumpy roads and multitudes of gulleys in the nature reserves. Our driver for the whole trip was David Anatory and I cannot praise him highly enough. His knowledge of the local flora and fauna was second to none, he even made a tortoise interesting! More importantly though he knew the habitat and animal habits so well we often saw things with his “pole pole” (slowly, slowly) attitude that a lot of the other tour guides missed for their clients; for example he spotted a leopard on a huge boulder quite a long distance from the road and we watched for 20 minutes whilst a small group of zebra wandered by (which could have, but did not, result in a chase) – two other vehicles saw us, stopped, assumed we were only watching the zebra and drove off – seeing an elusive leopard, one of the “big five” is a bonus and you need a good guide. For us, and many of you reading this review, this is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure holiday – choose wisely, choose Maasai Wanderings.
