The 4 Night MATOBO AND BULAWAYO WORLD HERITAGE TOUR

Experience the World Heritage Site of the Rhodes Matopos National Park ticking off bucket list adventures, which include meeting the endangered White Rhino on foot, and listening to the tales of the Bushmen (San) and gazing upon their Rock Art which they leave behind as their legacy to the entire human race. Share in Bulawayo’s rich history and visit the site of the Khami Ruins and Old Bulawayo which tell the stories of the original inhabitants and site of the first ‘Bulawayo’. The National Art Gallery and Natural History Museum are perfect add on visits to compliment the tour and offer you an opportunity to purchase a creation of our local talented artists! This a four night safari, with 2 nights being spent in Rhodes Matopos National Park and 2 nights in the city of Bulawayo.

DAY ONE:

 

ARRIVAL AT BULAWAYO AIRPORT

You will be met and assisted at the Bulawayo airport by one of our safari coordinators. Your first stop in the City of Bulawayo is a short 20-minute drive away, where we are happy to make a pause for items you may need to purchase, such as medication, snacks or otherwise.

Once you’re ready, we will then transfer you to accommodation in the Rhodes Matopos National Park, approximately 55km from the city. Driving through the Park you’ll get a preview of what awaits you the following day, huge granite kopjes and unrivalled scenery. Upon arrival at your lodge, a delicious lunch and a relaxing afternoon siesta or lounging by the pool is the order of the day. For those feeling energetic, a short hike or walk on the property can be arranged before sundowners and dinner.
 

DAY TWO:

 

FULL DAY TOUR – RHINO EXPERIENCE, CAVE PAINTINGS AND RHODES’ GRAVE

 

A full English breakfast will ensure you’re ready to start your full day tour in the National Park, expect your pick up between 9-930 am. Your day will entail a white rhino approach on foot, a visit to one of the various sites of Bushmen Cave Paintings, ending with sundowners at World’s View – the site of Cecil John Rhodes’ grave, as well as a delicious picnic lunch at one of the many sites in the Park. You will be guided by a professional of many years’ experience and incomparable passion. You will be delivered back to your lodge just after dark, full of stories to compare. 

 

DAY THREE:

 

KHAMI AND BULAWAYO TOUR

 

You will be transferred back to Bulawayo after breakfast, where your city tour begins! Once we’ve checked you into your city stay, a short excursion to the original site of the ‘Old Bulawayo’ settlement starts your third day. After lunch a visit to our National Art Gallery and Natural History Museum is a must, you may even find a creation from of our talented local artists to purchase! At the end of the day, a quiet dinner at your lodge or at one of the city’s many establishments can be arranged to your preference.

 

DAY FOUR:

 

Collection for your tour to Khami Ruins will again be between 9-930 am, and will start with a 40km out of the city to the ruins. A knowledgeable guide will bring this settlement to life and take you back hundreds of years to a different era. Generally, this tour will only take the morning, and you may have time in the afternoon to visit one of the Wildlife Orphanages located just on the town outskirts, a good opportunity to see the conservation work going on ‘behind the scenes’ by dedicated people. Should you wish to visit more curio markets, we will happily arrange a trip to City Hall, where you can meet the locals and buy some affordable souvenirs. This is your final night in Bulawayo, and we will once again arrange the evening’s dining to your requirements.

 

DAY FIVE:

 

A coordinator will collect you from your accommodation in time for your flight out or your transfer onto your next destination. We hope that this tour will leave you with a greater understanding of our local culture and world heritage, and a desire to return!

 

Accommodations for this tour can be arranged according to the clients’ preference, be it budget or luxury. Please note our starting price is BUDGET.

This tour requires a minimum of 4 persons. Some aspects of the tour such as the rhino experience are not suitable for children under 12.

Prices do not include meals purchased outside of what is already included in your booked accommodation.
