After spending a night on a working coffee plantation in Arusha, fly into Tarangire National Park. From the luxurious tented confines of Oliver’s Camp, explore the Great Rift Valley’s many varied ecosystems and dense game populations. Oliver’s is most well-known for its walking safaris, and a half-day excursion on foot will show you the hidden secrets and tiny details of the region.

Fly north next to Lake Victoria and Rubondo Island, a secluded island covered with pristine, untouched forest. Spend the next two days enjoying the wonders of the island on walking safaris and tracking excursions through the thick jungle. North of camp, hike through the habitat of around 40 unhabituated chimpanzees whose ancestors were rescued from zoos and circuses and released on the island in the 1960s. Fish for Nile perch by boat or on the shore, or take in the brilliant colors of the island’s sunsets on a private sundowner cruise.

Conclude your journey in the tranquil Lamai region of the Serengeti at Sayari Camp, where the year-round concentration of game is astounding. Set near the Mara River just south of the Kenyan border, Sayari is a prime location for game viewing in the grasslands, marshes, and forested river banks of the great Serengeti ecosystem. Take a walking safari with guides and rangers to explore these differing terrains and experience a wealth of activity and excellent hospitality for the remainder of your stay in Tanzania.
