Tanzania’s nature and animals at its Best – Serengeti National Park

Written on: January 05, 2015   |   I visited in June 2014 Coming from Lake Manyara National Park and passing through Ngorongoro to Serengeti was a very enjoyable Safari. We arrived quite late in Serengeti and this was because we were doing game drive as moving to the Central Part of Serengeti. We reached at Katikati Tented Camp which is owned by Wilderness Camps, very beautiful tented Camp. We went straight to refresh and have dinner knowing that we need to wake up very early the next day for one full day of game drive.

Our guide asked for a breakfast box and picnic lunch that means we were set to go away to the evening. Knowing the size of Serengeti and the fact that we were only staying two nights, we couldn't disagree with the plan. We left the camp and start a game drive. Everything was perfect from the animals to the landscape. We really enjoyed the morning part of game drive before our breakfast.

Serengeti is more than what I ever thought; sometimes you would ask yourself is this real? Seeing all these animals in their natural habitats? It is amazing. We saw almost all of big cats and beautiful landscape. We saw cheetahs, lions, leopard, wild cats and so many other animals on this first day. Apart from the big cats, we saw elephant, giraffes, antelopes, hippo and so many other animals. After a full day of game drive, we started moving back to our accommodation and rest.

The next day of Serengeti we decided to take it easy as we had the early morning experience of Serengeti. We had great breakfast at out tented camp, and at around 9 am we checked out of the hotel with our picnic lunch and started our game drive as we were moving toward Ngorongoro Conservation area. We had lunch on the way and a stop for Maasai Village. I didn't enjoy the visit to Maasai Village as it didn't look very authentic, but there are other Maasai village we visited earlier in Mto wa Mbu which were extremely good.

Overall experience with Serengeti was very good and if someone is planning to go to Serengeti I advice that to at least have two nights there. Is not fair at all to go to Serengeti and stay only for one night. I wouldn't recommend that.

It is also very important to have an experienced guide, the roads and ways can be tricky, and if you do not have a good guide this great place can turn to be a disappointment.

I will definitely go back to Serengeti, first of all I will need to go when it is good time for migration, and second I just feel that there is unfinished work there.

I was shocked to see just how many animals in Serengeti National Park. I knew there would be a lot but that was an understatement. Every animal here in Serengeti & Ngorongoro is trying to eat, drink, and survive to see another days. Some do better than others like. The lions, cheetahs, and leopards are definitely doing their part. The hyenas pick up the scraps with... read more

Thrilling experience of 2 nights at the wonderful and comfortable Kati Kati tented camp, where we've had dinner and surrounded by hyenas and lions, with herds of elephants that roamed around at night to our tents to drink water cisterns, which will more for those who appreciate the adrenaline experience?

My previous visit to The Serengeti was back in the last century … man had I forgotten how amazing a place it is.

Though only eight nights split between two camps, south and east respectively, within the park – it was enough to rekindle the sense of wonder that I recall from nearly twenty years ago. The deal I took advantage of allowed me to visit two camps for ... read more

My first time to Africa (Kenya/Tanzania) was an amazing experience. Because of the careful thorough planning of Maasai Wanderings to every detail, everything went smoothly from start to finish. Each camp was luxurious, (Kaskaz, Naona Maru, Plantation Lodge and Nimali). The food scrumptious! The service and ALL the staff at each camp were pleasant, helpful and an ab... read more

It is such a nice place to visit all year round. The only place to witness the annual wildebeest migration in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet. Sometimes it is being referred to as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth', the Great Wildebeest Migration is a movement of approximately 2 million wildebeest throughout t... read more

I've been in safari for almost five times but I see the Serengeti as marvelous and magic destination in the world for wildlife and game drives. When you're in Serengeti, you will see all animals. Between July to August last year we had been in Northern Serengeti where the migration was, and we saw wildebeest, zebra, topi, Hartebeest, eland, antelope, hyena, varieti... read more

Probably one of our favorite destinations in Africa. In one word, perfection! The entire Serengeti experience blew us away and always does, from start to finish. Everything from the landing strip when we arrived to amazing wildlife we were able to see.

If you are able, make sure you visit the Serengeti during The Great Migration. This is a natural world wonder t... read more
