Best way to see and experience the wildebeest migration

Written on: May 28, 2014   |   I visited in July 2013 The most intimate encounter with wildlife of Serengeti and the migration will come from the exploration inside a safari jeep. If you are looking at watching the wildebeest and other animals crossing the river, then you will need to plan on having patience. The animals may graze for hours and days on end before taking the swim across the river.
If you are fortunate to experience the river crossing, keep you eyes peeled to river banks and wildlife swimming. The crocodiles have been waiting and know they are coming!
Witnessing a crocodile capture a wildebeest and wrestle their prize home is an exhilarating experience. The same could be said for following the migration animals. The lions and other predators know the season and the hunting mode. Keep your eyes on the stragglers and loners because the predators have their eyes on those, too.

I was shocked to see just how many animals in Serengeti National Park. I knew there would be a lot but that was an understatement. Every animal here in Serengeti & Ngorongoro is trying to eat, drink, and survive to see another days. Some do better than others like. The lions, cheetahs, and leopards are definitely doing their part. The hyenas pick up the scraps with... read more

Thrilling experience of 2 nights at the wonderful and comfortable Kati Kati tented camp, where we've had dinner and surrounded by hyenas and lions, with herds of elephants that roamed around at night to our tents to drink water cisterns, which will more for those who appreciate the adrenaline experience?

My previous visit to The Serengeti was back in the last century … man had I forgotten how amazing a place it is.

Though only eight nights split between two camps, south and east respectively, within the park – it was enough to rekindle the sense of wonder that I recall from nearly twenty years ago. The deal I took advantage of allowed me to visit two camps for ... read more

My first time to Africa (Kenya/Tanzania) was an amazing experience. Because of the careful thorough planning of Maasai Wanderings to every detail, everything went smoothly from start to finish. Each camp was luxurious, (Kaskaz, Naona Maru, Plantation Lodge and Nimali). The food scrumptious! The service and ALL the staff at each camp were pleasant, helpful and an ab... read more

It is such a nice place to visit all year round. The only place to witness the annual wildebeest migration in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet. Sometimes it is being referred to as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth', the Great Wildebeest Migration is a movement of approximately 2 million wildebeest throughout t... read more

I've been in safari for almost five times but I see the Serengeti as marvelous and magic destination in the world for wildlife and game drives. When you're in Serengeti, you will see all animals. Between July to August last year we had been in Northern Serengeti where the migration was, and we saw wildebeest, zebra, topi, Hartebeest, eland, antelope, hyena, varieti... read more

Probably one of our favorite destinations in Africa. In one word, perfection! The entire Serengeti experience blew us away and always does, from start to finish. Everything from the landing strip when we arrived to amazing wildlife we were able to see.

If you are able, make sure you visit the Serengeti during The Great Migration. This is a natural world wonder t... read more
