Never a dull moment in this vast African Eden

Written on: September 02, 2013   |   I visited in June 2012 The Serengeti National Park offers a truly unique experience - there's quite literally something to see at every turn.

We visited the park in June, and traveled from the beautiful Mbalageti Safari Camp to the (slightly clichéd) Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge.

I have never seen so much game in my life. Within moments of entering the park we saw a cheetah chase down a gazelle. Minutes later we came across a lion napping in a tree. Over the course of our visit we saw thousands of wildebeest and zebra, and many cheetah, lions and elephant.

The Maassai people call the Serengeti 'The place where the land moves on forever' and you'll soon discover why. Despite the roads, airstrips and lodges, the park feels largely untouched by man - vast and beautiful. While we did see other vehicles, the park never felt crowded.

The accommodation at Mbalageti Safari Camp was fantastic. The view from the camp was breathtaking. The food was great and our luxury tented accommodation and outdoor bath were heavenly.

Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge felt a lot more like a chain hotel. There were lots of tour groups and we felt a little like cattle at the camp. Our room was quite average and only had a view of the back of another room. But nothing could really put a dampener on the amazing Serengeti experience. Sipping a Tanzanian beer while watching the sun dip beneath the horizon is an experience I will never forget. I will be back!

This is the best park for Tanzania safari! Leopards, cheetahs, rhinos, elephants, lions, giraffes, hyenas, buffalo, etc. It doesn't get any better!

My first time to Africa (Kenya/Tanzania) was an amazing experience. Because of the careful thorough planning of Maasai Wanderings to every detail, everything went smoothly from start to finish. Each camp was luxurious, (Kaskaz, Naona Maru, Plantation Lodge and Nimali). The food scrumptious! The service and ALL the staff at each camp were pleasant, helpful and an ab... read more

It is such a nice place to visit all year round. The only place to witness the annual wildebeest migration in Tanzania’s Serengeti National Park, one of the most spectacular wildlife events on the planet. Sometimes it is being referred to as the ‘Greatest Show on Earth', the Great Wildebeest Migration is a movement of approximately 2 million wildebeest throughout t... read more

I've been in safari for almost five times but I see the Serengeti as marvelous and magic destination in the world for wildlife and game drives. When you're in Serengeti, you will see all animals. Between July to August last year we had been in Northern Serengeti where the migration was, and we saw wildebeest, zebra, topi, Hartebeest, eland, antelope, hyena, varieti... read more

Probably one of our favorite destinations in Africa. In one word, perfection! The entire Serengeti experience blew us away and always does, from start to finish. Everything from the landing strip when we arrived to amazing wildlife we were able to see.

If you are able, make sure you visit the Serengeti during The Great Migration. This is a natural world wonder t... read more

The father and son Grzimek made this film. Still you sometimes see it on tv. And please let it never die. I can only say this trip is so exiting, more and more that I ever expect. My guide knows on my many questions answers or show it to me. Tomorrow I am going on a hot air balloon ride.
This is my first trip to the Serengeti but not my last! read more

Serengeti, means endless plains and it is, but there's so much to see. There's the wildlife, the kopjes. This year, 2015, we saw so many lions, zebra, elephants, cheetahs, buffalo, giraffe, and three times we saw a leopard.
I learned how to find a leopard in the tree. Look if you see anything in the tree that is strange and yes there is a leg that makes the tree ... read more
