Best dream of an Adventurous Mind at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Written on: November 26, 2013   |   I visited in November 2013 Located in South Western Uganda, Bwindi harbours half of world’s known mountain gorillas totaling to 330. It is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa with varied mammal species, bird species, butterfly species, tree species, and species of frogs.
It is such a great memorable experience taking hikes in the jungle, great anticipation while climbing the jungle and trekking of gorillas.
The best accommodation option around Bwindi is Ruhija Gorilla Safari Lodge which is close enough to the park with the finest trained staff and provide the best services at fair prices. While at Ruhija Gorilla Safari Lodge, you enjoy the beautiful view of the forest as you enjoy the cool natural breezes from the forest.
NB: please carry trekking shoes and a camera for you would not wish to miss out capturing the beautiful view and great creatures.

Going on a gorilla trek in a natural UNESCO Heritage site is what makes Bwindi Impenetrable National park a special experience and standing out. Uganda has 12 habituated gorilla families from which you track gorillas from. This has reduced on pressure from clients who in early days would struggle to secure a permit for the trek.

Bwindi was our second gorilla-trekking experience. We also did Volcanoes, Rwanda, a few days earlier. We were in the Ruhija region of Bwindi, which requires some fancy driving skills and a very good Range Rover! The roads were muddy, steep and very tough to navigate. But, because of that, our area was much less crowded than Buhoma. We went by that region and it was... read more

This massive forest cover is home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. It is also a UNESCO world heritage center. It offers an experience that makes you ‘one with nature’ – because you are fully immersed with nothing but wilderness around you. The air you breathe is all pure – thanks to the millions of trees surrounding you. The park has the main att... read more

Being a mere five metres from a silver-back Gorilla is an adrenaline rush! We had been trekking for around 4 hours through Bwindi Impenetrable National Park until our scouts radioed in that there was a gorilla family up ahead. But it was definitely worth the effort. The family comprised maybe 20 individuals, each munching away in their own little world as we stood ... read more

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is an awesome with its natural make up. The park is also found in a low altitude that is good to be the perfect habitat for the mountain gorilla.
When visiting Bwindi, please remember it's a very wet national park. Always have a jacket and boots with you. read more

Bwindi is an ancient highland forest in south western Uganda and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a sanctuary for approximately half of the world’s total population of mountain gorillas (around 400 according to the 2011 census results), and is also the only place where mountain gorillas and Chimpanzees co-exist. An early morning drive from Kampala to Buhoma through Kabale and Kanungu is the least I can recall of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park…of course with a bunch of sleepy colleagues at the back. After a brief stop at Kampala we had to make our way to Bwindi before midday, because our contact had informed us that the game there is not widely visible in the afternoon. ... read more

EXTREMELY remote and hard to get to, this is the magical place you’ve always wished to visit. Bwindi IS the heart of the continent where Mountain Gorillas share territory into the DRC (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and Rwanda. The forest is thick with immense trees of mahogany, Newtonia, ebony, tree-ferns… monkeys, baboons, duikers (small deer-like animals), ... read more

Bwindi impenetrable National Park

My trip to Bwindi was another interesting one because I had the same company I went with to Mgahinga National park. This time we arranged for a reunion after we had all secured jobs and we decided to go camping. The route still started from Kampala where we set off at around 6am when the first bus to Buhoma was leaving. This tim... read more
