Day 1 Nairobi/Naro Moru
After breakfast, depart Nairobi for Naro Moru Area arriving for lunch. Afternoon will be spent sorting out and organising any gear require to hike up the mountain, which also serves as an acclimatisation process as Naro Moru is roughly 2,000m above sea level. Dinner and overnight at Naro Moru River Lodge.
Day 2 Naro Moru/Met Station
Drive to the Naro Moru Park Gate and hike a distance of 9 km in an average hiking time of 4 hours. Rest of the day at leisure continuing with the gradual process of acclimatisation, altitude here is 3,050m above sea level. Dinner and overnight in Log Cabins.
Day 3 Met Station/Mackinders
After breakfast, hike up the Teleki valley to Mackinder's Camp where there is a spectacular view of the main peaks. The walking time will be 4-6 hours approximately. Meals and overnight at Mackinders Camp, the altitude here is 4,150m.
Day 4 Mackinders/Two Tarn/Hausberg Valley/Mackinders
After an early breakfast, begin the circumnavigation of the main peaks heading north. One traverse takes us below the south and west faces on our approach to Two Tarn Hut then across Western Terminal and into Hausberg Valley and finally over Hausberg Col and into Mackinders Valley. Walking time approximately 5 hours with highest altitude reached on this day being 4,500m. Our camp in Mackinders Valley is at 4,300m and the night is spent in high altitude tents.
Day 5 Mackinders/Pt Lenana/Mackinders
You will wake up to a pre-down attempt of Point Lenana. An early start ensures a successful summit bid and weather permitting, for a clear view of the majestic summit scenery. Point Lenana stands at 4,985m above sea level, about 4 hours walking. Descend to Mackinders Camp for dinner and overnight at the hut , having conquered Mt. Kenya.
Day 6 Mackinders/Nairobi via Naro Moru
After breakfast, descend down to Met Station and on to the park gate in 3 to 4 hours time. Drive to Naro Moru River Lodge for lunch then return to Nairobi.
