Your Kenya Tanzania safari will begin in the morning when we pick you up from your accommodation in Nairobi and travel to one of Africa’s greatest wildlife reserves – the Maasai Mara National Reserve. The journey amid the lush sceneries of the Great Rift Valley region provides the perfect opportunity to stop and snap some spectacular photos before we descend the escarpment. Lunch will be served as we arrive at the camp and then your game drive through the remarkable National Reserve will begin. The afternoon is bound to be unforgettable as the Maasai Mara is home to a vast number of wildlife including antelopes, zebra, jackals and the mighty “Big Five”. The park also boasts a large bird population that comprises of migrant species and various raptors. You will spend the night at the camp and a delicious dinner will be provided.
After enjoying breakfast at the campsite, we will embark on a full day game drive in the National Reserve. Your day will be spent exploring the beautiful plains of the park and you will have a chance to enjoy your packed picnic lunch in the afternoon. The Maasai Mara is renowned for having a large population of big cats including leopards, cheetahs and lions. You can also expect to see lounging hippos and crocodiles creeping along the river banks. In the evening we will return to the camp where dinner will be served.
After enjoying breakfast you will venture out on foot. An experienced, local Maasai guide will accompany you on your journey and point out any fascinating species or historical facts. The nature walk provides you with a chance to unwind and clear your head. You can climb the Siana Hill which lies behind the campsite. The stunning landscape of the Mara ecosystem is bound to captivate you upon reaching the top of the hill. We will return to the campsite for lunch before departing to Lake Naivasha where you will spend the night close to the lake shores.
After a hearty breakfast today you will venture out on to the beautiful Lake Naivasha for a boat ride where you have the opportunity to view Hippos up close and personal. You will also hopefully get to see the famous African Fish Eagle in action. On returning from the boat ride will will make our way to Amboseli National Park where you will stay at a camp tonight just outside the park with stunning views of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Today’s game drive will lead us on a journey through the Amboseli National Park – where you are bound to see some of the many elephant herds. You also have the chance to climb to the top of the lookout point for stunning views. The breath taking sight of Mount Kilimanjaro can be seen from all around today. In the evening, dinner will be served and you will spend the night at the camp.
The second part of your Kenya Tanzania adventure will commence after breakfast. We will transport you to the Tarakea/Loitokitok boarder where friendly members of the Viva Africa Tours crew will be awaiting your arrival. We will arrive in Mto wa Mbu at the campsite in Tanzania before dinner.
Today will certainly be a highlight of your Kenya Tanzania adventure. Breakfast will be served at the camp and then we will travel to the Serengeti National Park. We suggest that you keep your eyes peeled during the drive as there is a possibility of spotting game near the Ngorongoro Crater. The spectacular ecosystems and supreme game viewing locations have contributed to the Serengeti’s rightful title – one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. The golden savannah plains will provide the perfect backdrop during your picnic lunch on a kopje (small rock outcropping). We will venture further into the park before returning to the Serengeti camp, where an appetising dinner will await you.
Our game drive will take place amid the beautiful sceneries of the central Serengeti and you will also have lunch here. The Serengeti is renowned for having an extensive wildlife population that includes lions, cheetahs, zebras, wildebeest, crocodiles, giraffe, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos and antelopes. The amount and type of wildlife found at the park varies from season to season but our guides will ensure that you have an action packed day. Once we arrive at the campsite, located near the crater rim, a delicious dinner will be served.
We will depart for the Ngorongoro Crater early in the morning as it is an excellent time to spot game. The lofty walls of the crater were formed millions of years ago when a nearby volcano erupted. These walls attract animals by the masses so there is a high possibility of encountering every member of the ‘Big Five’ as well as zebras, hippos and hyenas. The crater is a bird watchers heaven and you can expect to see storks, geese and graceful flamingos as we drive along the banks of the Soda Lake. Our game drive will conclude shortly after a picnic lunch in the crater, then we will proceed to Fanaka Campsite for the night.
We will travel from the Fanaka Campsite to the Tarangire National Park in the morning. The practically untouched grounds and tranquillity are two characteristics of the Tarangire you are sure to notice instantly. The enormous termite mounds and ancient baobab trees are not the only significantly large thing at the park – it is also home to one of the greatest elephant populations in Africa. You can also expect to see lions, giraffes, warthogs, ostriches, impalas, mongoose, and baboons on our game drive. Your Kenya Tanzania safari will come to an end in the late afternoon and transport to the Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO) can be arranged. This would be a great point to set off for Mount Kilimanjaro due to the fact that you will already be in Moshi.
