Our staff will pick you up at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) and have a 30 minutes drive to The Arusha Hotel.
Arusha is surrounded by some of Africa’s most famous landscapes and national parks. Situated below Mount Meru on the eastern edge of the eastern branch of the Great Rift Valley, it has a mild climate and is close to Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater, Lake Manyara, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, and Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as having its own Arusha National Park on Mount Meru.
The Arusha Hotel has always played a leading role in Tanzania’s colourful history. After extensive renovation and refurbishment, the hotel (formerly The New Arusha Hotel) is now the leading and best-loved hotel in Arusha town, making it the natural choice for visitors to Arusha, be it for business or adventure.
Our staff will meet you at hotel and together we will have short briefing to finalize details and answer any additional questions regarding your upcoming safari.
Depart from Arusha at 8am and drive to Tarangire National Park.
You will see the Tarangire River with Baobab trees all along the river-banks. This is a well established view point, where game can be viewed ambling to and from the river throughout the day.
Thousands of animals migrate from Maasai steppe to Tarangire River looking for water. You might be able to see three rare species of animals; the Greater Kadu, the Fringe-eared Oryx as well as a few Ashy Starlings.
Picnic lunches will be set on some of the picnic sites in the proximity of wildlife.
After breakfast, we will proceed to Ngorongoro crater for a full-day game drive.
From the comfort of your open-top vehicle, descending down into the crater, you will enjoy amazing panoramic view and if you are lucky, you will see the Big five. The caldera exhibits more than 120 species of mammals. We will also visit saline lakes such as Lake Magadi, which is a magnet for flamingos and other water birds. We will also see pools full of hippos, the endangered East African black rhino as well as birds such as the secretary bird, the white stork arriving from Europe during the wet season and kori bustards, crowned cranes and ostriches. It is for sure a landscape of sheer beauty. Another big drawing card to this picturesque park is its dense population of predators, which include lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs and the ever-elusive leopard, which can require the trained eye of your guide to spot.
After breakfast, we will start our drive past the unique and gorgeous Ngorongoro Conservation Area via the famous Oldupai Gorge also known as “The Cradle of Mankind” to the Serengeti National Park.
The gorge lies on the same spot where once lay an ancient lake, which was covered by thick layers of volcanic ash, which carefully preserved the world's earliest records of mankind. This extremely important prehistoric site was discovered by Louis and Mary Leakey and the exhibitions from different periods in its history are on display in the Oldupai Gorge Museum, located on the gorge’s rim.
Our visit will also include the famous Maasai bomas, where you will be able to meet the Maasai people and get to know their culture and habits.
Upon entering the Serengeti National Park for your game drive, the most intriguing and yet amazing African landscape rolls before your eyes. Here you will experience African wildlife in all its glory.
At 06.00h we will start the sunrise game drive. You will be accompanied by the melodic singing of the birds while searching for leopards and lions hunting for their morning meal and contrastingly calm hippos, returning to their watery homes with their family.
We will return to the campsite or lodge, where we will enjoy a late breakfast at 9.00am. We will continue our game drive at 10.30am and stay in the wilderness for the rest of the day.
Our safari drive will continue according to the time of year and we will follow the animals on their trail.
Wake up at 0600hours for early morning game drives in Serengeti at 0900 hours back to the Lodge for breakfast. Here in the Serengeti region you can often watch wildebeest and zebras next to lions and other big cats such as leopards and cheetahs. Lunch is taken at a picnic spot before a slow drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. On the way you will pass the Olduvai Gorge where the English pair, Louis and Mary Leak pioneered excavation work. In the sixties some of the earliest archaeological deposits of human evolution was found and a small museum (visit optional) documents these discoveries. Then check out and drive with lunch and game viewing en route to Ngorongoro Crater Rim. Dinner and Overnight at Ngorongoro Lodge.
Pick up from Hotel at 0830am and drive on tarmac road 130km (2hrs) with lunch box to Lake Manyara National Park (330 sq km) on the base of the Great Rift Valley, for the Afternoon game drives. Lake Manyara provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s bird life. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large water birds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks.
The park is home to Lion, Hippo, Elephant, Zebra, Buffalo, Giraffe, Baboon, Blue and Vervet monkey, Warthog and more. This small park contains also five distinct vegetation zones. Thus supporting a large variety of birds and animals. In this park canoeing has recently been added to the tourist activities in this park at extra cost. This is a great way to see the park from new perspective. Then driving back to The Arusha Hotel.
