Day 1: Kanombe Airport – Kigali
Arrive Kanombe Airport – Rwanda (SN 465 at 18:55h). Meet and greet with a Trek East Africa Safaris representative before transferring to Kigali for dinner and overnight stay at Hotel des Mille Collines / Kigali Serena Hotel.
Day 2: Kigali – Lake Bunyonyi (Kabale)
After breakfast take on a city tour that will also take you around the genocide sites. Lunch break then transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Overnight stay at Arcadia Cottages / Birdnest. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 3: Lake Bunyonyi - Bwindi Forest
Late breakfast then take on a morning boat ride to around of the islands on the lake. The boat ride is most likely to yield sightings of rare bird species. Lunch break then later transfer to Bwindi Forest (Uganda) – home to the endangered Mountain Gorillas.
Bwindi Forest not only offers dramatic steeply forested landscape but is also incredibly dense though crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. Overnight stay (subject to family to be tracked) at Buhoma Lodge / Gorilla Resort/ Gorilla Safari Lodge / Ruhija Gorilla Lodge or Silverback Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 4: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Early breakfast then report at the UWA information office where you will be fully briefed on the do’s and don’ts while in the forest. With your packed lunch set off with your guide (s) for the adventure. The track may take anywhere from 30 minutes to 7 hours but from the time the first Gorilla or Gorilla family is spotted, you are only allowed to spend a maximum of one hour with them as they go about their activities. The experience of observing these endangered gentle giants is a humbling and exciting adventure.
Return to your camp/ lodge from where you will relive those special moments with friends over a drink. Overnight stay at Buhoma Lodge / Gorilla Resort/ Gorilla Safari Lodge / Ruhija Gorilla Lodge or Buhoma Community Bandas. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 5: Bwindi Forest – Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, drive northwards through Ishasha (If over night was at Buhoma – Bwindi) where you will take on a game drive prior to heading for Queen Elizabeth National Park. This park boasts of a variety of big game like; Elephants, Buffaloes, lions, buffaloes, the elusive leopard and Hippos. Overnight stay at Jacana Safari Lodge or Mweya Safari Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 6: Queen Elizabeth National Park
Rise early and take on a morning safari game drive. Look out for lions, Elephants, buffaloes, hyenas, the comical warthogs, Antelopes and with luck the elusive Leopard could be spotted. Return to the lodge for late breakfast.
In the afternoon take on a unique launch cruise along Kazinga Channel – one that joins Lakes George and Edward.The launch cruise passes through presumably the highest concentration of hippo in Africa and other mammals are a common sight as they drink at the water’s edge.
The birdlife is abundant and colourful. Later return to the lodge. Later drive to Fort Portal. Over night stay at Mountains of the Moon Hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 7: Fort Portal – Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, set off for Murchison Falls National Park with packed lunch enroute. Experience the endless stretch and beauty of savanna grassland that disappears in a mirage.
Arrive Paraa in late afternoon/early evening. Stay at Nile River Camp or cross by ferry to Paraa Safari Lodge on the northern bank of River Nile for dinner and overnight. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 8: Murchison Falls National Park
Start the day with an early morning safari game drive along the Buligi, Albert or Queens tracks north of the river Nile where you will look out for those animals that are unique to the African Savannah like Giraffe, Antelope, Lion, Elephant and with luck the elusive Leopard.
In the afternoon, take on a launch cruise on the great River Nile. The cruise takes you to the Bottom of the awe inspiring Murchison Falls where the River Nile hurls itself in appalling convulsions through a narrow crevice and plunges 130 feet in one breath taking leap.
Enroute, look out for huge crocodiles, schools of hippos, buffaloes, elephants and a variety of water birds like herons, cormorants, ducks, bee-eaters, kingfishers, skimmers, fish eagle and the rare shoebill. Overnight stay at Nile River Camp or Paraa Safari Lodge. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.
Day 9: Murchison Falls National Park – Kampala
On this day before you leave the park, take a drive to the “Top of the falls” for a breathtaking sight of the raging Nile as it forces its way through a rocky gap barely six meters wide.
Later proceed start the drive to Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. Stop over for lunch enroute and other places of interest like souvenir selling points along the highway. Over night stay at
Day 10: Kampala - Jinja - Kampala
Late breakfast, then drive to Jinja. Reach in time for lunch at Jinja Nile Resort. After lunch Visit the source of the Nile before returning back to Kampala. Over night stay at Protea Hotel / Acacia Lodge/ or Golf Course Hotel. Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner.
Day 11: Kampala City Tour
Your driver/ guide will pick you from your hotel in Kampala at 8:30 am from where you will start on the drive through Kampala City. The drive takes you to Namirember and Rubaga Cathedrals which have a spectacular view of the city, Kabaka’s Lake, Bahai Temple and then to the National Museum.
Lunch break then drive to Namugongo martyrs shrine before heading back to town where you could visit any of the craft “villages”. Dinner and an overnight stay at Protea Hotel/ Casia Lodge/ Speke Hotel / Golf Course Hotel.
Day 12: Kampala - Entebbe International Airport
Have the morning and afternoon at leisure. Later drive to Entebbe International Airport from where you will catch up with your late evening out bound flight (SN 465 at 23:05h). Meal Plan: Breakfast & Lunch.
