DAY 02: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park

car with roof tent

Enjoy a scrumptious breakfast and depart thereafter for Amboseli National Park, driving through the scenic southern part of Kenya towards the Kenya – Tanzania border, Namanga. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the way to your campsite with your first exciting game drive in the park. Whilst your chef is setting up camp we invite you for another game drive afterwards in this beautiful park, famous for its large elephant herds. Arid looking as Amboseli is, it has, historically, supported both game and the Masai that kept their herds of cattle here. It is thanks to the waters that run off Africa's greatest mountain that the apparently dry Amboseli, Kenya's first game sanctuary is able to support its wildlife. Mount Kilimanjaro broods high over Amboseli, generally cloaked by clouds but appearing in all its snow-shrouded magnificence from time to time. The mountain now provides water for the park, wonderful views and, of course, the most glorious background for animal photography. Return to the camp for a freshly prepared dinner under the stars & overnight in your roof tent or ground tent. (FB)

DAY 03: Amboseli National Park
Another exciting day in Amboseli National Park. We recommend that you get up early morning where one can experience excellent game viewing & an unprecedented view of the snow capped Mount Kilimanjaro. Return to the camp for breakfast. You may opt for an additional game drive after breakfast to visit the swamp with its magnificent wildlife present all day long or simply relax at camp and take in the African wilderness. Afternoon game drive in anticipation of seeing the “BIG FIVE”. Dinner, prepared by your chef, and overnight in your roof tent or ground tent. (FB)

DAY 04: Amboseli National Park – Lake Naivasha
After an early breakfast depart from Amboseli and drive via Nairobi along the Great Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha. Stop over for a quick lunch at a typical local Indian Restaurant before proceeding to Lake Naivasha. En-route, stop over at the Rift Valley view point offering a breathtaking view and incredible panorama, ideal for photographs to be taken. Another stop at Crescent Island for a guided walk will give you the chance to view and walk with various plains game such as wildebeest, Kongoni antelope, impala, water bucks and larger wildlife such as giraffe. Your guide will also try to find you the pythons that live on the island. Proceed on to your camp site late afternoon / early evening. Dinner and overnight in your roof tent or ground tent. (FB)

DAY 05: Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru National Park

After a delectable breakfast continue on to the scenic Lake Nakuru National Park, world renowned for its thousands of flamingos that colour the lake pink. After setting camp your guide will take you out for your first a game drive within the park. Originally declared a National Park because of a superbly diverse bird population, which includes many migrants, Lake Nakuru is also a favorite place for travelers to seek the rare black rhino. However, it is for the flamingos that the lake is best known, that turn the lake into a gorgeous rosy pink. With a bit of luck you may find Buffalo, zebra, antelope and both lion and the elusive leopard. Temptingly, the black rhino-breeding programme, started in the late eighties, has proved successful and this is an excellent place to view them. Back at camp a delicious meals await you and a lovely evening in the African bush. Overnight in your roof tent or ground tent. (FB)

DAY 06: Lake Nakuru National Park

Impalas (Picture: Michael Nikolai)

Another exciting day awaits you in this National Park with game drives at your convenience. You could go for a full day game drive with picnic breakfast and lunch or alternatively enjoy early morning and afternoon game drives. This lake offers one of the world's most spectacular wildlife sights, that of brilliant pink flamingos as far as the eye can see. The rather less ubiquitous reedbuck and waterbuck are also here as is the glamorously leggy Rothschild giraffe. All meals and overnight in your roof tent or ground tent. (FB)

DAY 07: Lake Nakuru National Park – Maasai Mara Game Reserve
After an early breakfast set off for the highlight of your trip, the world famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve . Picnic lunch en-route to the reserve driving past extinct volcanoes on the bottom of the Rift Valley floor. Enjoy a game drive en-route to your camp where you might encounter some of the “Big Five” and you will most certainly be impressed by the wide variety of species present in this area. The Maasai Mara has the highest concentration of land mammals compared to all other parks! Evening meal and overnight in your roof tent or ground tent. (FB)

DAYS 08 - 09: Maasai Mara Game Reserve

Sunrise in the Maasai Mara

Spend two more exciting days with unlimited game drives exploring the Mara, home to the proud and traditional Maasai tribe. We can arrange a visit to a local Maasai Village if you like. (@ extra cost) The Mara is more than just the most popular wildlife park in the country, in many cases it is the reason why people come to visit Kenya. This is a classic African savanna, and the sheer density of wildlife is amazing. Gazelle, wildebeest and zebra graze in large numbers and where prey is found so are predators. Watered by the Mara River and its tributary the Talek, the park here compromises 1510 sq kilometres of open grassland tucked away in the south west corner of the country. In the Mara you will see an astonishing amount of wild life, including the big cats, where lions are found in large prides everywhere and it is not uncommon to see them hunting. Cheetahs and leopards are harder to spot, but are still fairly common. Elephants, buffaloes, zebras and hippos also exist in large numbers. All meals will be prepared in camp. Overnight in your roof tent or ground tent. (FB)

DAY 10: Maasai Mara Game Reserve – Nairobi
Enjoy your last early morning game drive before returning to camp for breakfast.  Afterwards depart from the Mara paradise and head for Nairobi. A picnic lunch will be offered on the way. Arrive in Nairobi at approx. 1600hrs.  Should there still be time before your flight you might like to visit the Karen Blixen Museum or do a sightseeing tour of Nairobi or enjoy a meal at any restaurant of your choice. Transfer afterwards for your international / domestic onward flight (a night in Nairobi can be arranged at extra cost), ending what we hope was a memorable safari to Kenya!
