I visited in May 2016
My friend and I were travelling to Uganda from Canada for three weeks. During the weekdays, we were working in a Ugandan school. During the weekends, we wanted to see as much of Uganda as possible. We were recommended to Stride Safaris and were so grateful for the recommendation.
We were put in the hands of a man named Frank. Over the phone, he was incredibly flexible in what he could offer. We explained all the things we wanted to do (Murchison Falls, Kidepo National Park, Rhino Sanctuary, etc.), and he talked us through what would be possible with the time and money that we had. When we offered alternatives (like leaving even earlier so we could squeeze in one more activity), he was completely on board with us. We were tight with money, but he found us accommodation that was within our budget (though admittedly it wasn't 5-star).
Once our trip got started, Frank was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, organized and trustworthy. I felt totally comfortable being in his safari vehicle. He knew the timing of different events (like when certain boats left) so that we always had smooth transitions between activities. While we were on the game drives, he knew lots about all the wildlife we saw, he let us sit up on top of the van (with comfy cushions) and he didn't hold back on trying to find all the wonders that the park had to offer. When we were not on game drives, Frank was very flexible with us - suggesting different places to eat and even stopping off at different small villages so we could look around. By the end of the first weekend, Frank had become a friend of ours, and we were excited to spend the next weekend with him as well. The next weekend was just as delightful. My friend went gorilla trekking, but I (due to financial restrictions) decided to pass. However, Frank was able to show me a wonderful hike I could do while I waited for my friend. The next day, we did another hike at Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The hike took all day, but we still needed to get back to Kampala that night so we could go to work the next morning. Frank was absolutely amazing and drove throughout the night to get us home. To top if off, Frank invited us to stay at his place on our final night in Uganda (it was a good offer because his hostel/hotel is right beside the airport). It was a lovely way to finish an amazing three weeks.
Overall, I would unreservedly recommend Frank and Stride Safaris, and I hope you have as wonderful experience as we did!
