I visited in January 2016
Participated in a seven day charity trek in Uganda which included trekking to find golden monkeys in Mgahinga; trekking dos through community lands to Kisoro and on to Lae Mutanda; a 2.5 hour boat ride to the north of the Lake and then trekking to Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge. Four nights at the lodge enabled us to participate in some community activities, a traditional meal in an African home, a cultural walk with the Batwa pygmies and a trek to see the mountain gorillas in Bwindi. Throughout the trek the knowledge and expertise of the guides, the flexibility of the programme and the exceptional food in sometimes difficult circumstances hugely enhanced our first experience of Uganda and made our holiday memories something we will forever treasure. The massages provided at Nkuringo Gorilla Lodge were an unexpected opportunity for indulgence.
We asked Nkuringo WS to arrange an extension in Rwanda and we had three stays -Lake Kivu, Nyungwe Forest Lodge and Kigali. Nyungwe earns its reputation as Rwanda's Eden and was luxurious but it has to be said that Uganda held our hearts! Again, the driver and guide were knowledgeable and accommodating and highly flexible. We enjoyed their company immensely.
We very much hope to return in January 2017 and have no hesitation in highly recommending every aspect of Nkuringo Walking Safaris for a unique experience of Africa.
