Arrive at Kilimanjaro Airport. Here you will be met by a friendly Warrior Trails representative and be transferred to Mc Ely’s Hotel for overnight. B/B (Bed and Breakfast)
Day 1: Machame gate to Machame Camp
After early breakfast, your day starts to Machame gate (1490m), with a briefing from the tour organizer and the guides; you will receive a lunch pack. After registering at the gate office, you start your ascent and enter the rain forest almost immediately. Dinner and overnight: Machame camp (2980m). F/B (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Day 2: Machame camp to Shira camp
You rise early at Machame camp and after breakfast you climb an hour or so to the top of the forest and then for 2 hours at a gentler gradient through the moorland zone. After a short lunch and rest, you continue up a rocky ridge onto the Shira plateau. Dinner and overnight: Shira Camp (3840m). F/B (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Day 3: Shira camp to Barranco camp
The route now turns east into a semi desert and rocky landscape surrounding Lava Tower, where you reach an altitude of 4630m after about a 5 hours walk. Lunch is served in a designated area before ascending the rocky path to Lava Tower (4630m). Definitely the toughest day so far. After lunch you descend again by almost 680m to the Barranco Camping area. Take some beautiful photographs while you wait for the preparation of your dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp site. (3950m). F/B (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Day 4: Barranco camp to Karanga camp
Start hiking from the Barranco camp at 8:00am and hike approximately 6.6km to Karanga camp, expect to arrive around 12h00 for lunch, dinner and overnight. (And after lunch acclimatization hike could be a good idea should you feel up to it). (3920m). F/B (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Day 5: Karanga camp to Barafu camp
Hike 3.3km from Karanga camp to Barafu camp. You can expect to arrive to Barafu by around 11:00am which will allow much more time to rest, enjoy dinner, prepare your summit gear and rest till 23:30pm when you will be woken up for the start of the summit attempt. (An after lunch acclimatization hike could once again be a good idea should you feel up to it). (4600m). F/B ( Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Day 6: Barafu camp – Uhuru peak – Mweka camp
You will rise around 2330 hours and, after some tea and biscuits, you shuffle off into the night. You will head in a northwesterly direction and ascend towards Stella Point on the crater rim. This 6-hour walks to Stella point is for many climbers, mentally and physically, the most challenging on the route. At Stella Point (5685m) you will stop for a short rest and will be rewarded with the most magnificent sunrise you are ever likely to see (weather permitting). From here you will reach Uhuru Peak (5895m). The summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa's highest point.
The walk back to Barafu from the summit takes about 3 hours. Here you will have a short but well earned rest and collect the rest of your gear before heading down to Mweka Hut (3100m). The route is not difficult and will take you down the rock path into the moorland and eventually into the forest. Dinner, and washing and drinking water will be prepared. Overnight at Mweka Camp (3100m). F/B (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner)
Day 7: Mweka camp – Mweka gate - Arusha
After your breakfast depart Mweka camp to Mweka gate and drive back to Mc Elly’s Hotel. B/B. Have rest and overnight at the hotel waiting to depart for a 7 days North Tanzania safari.
Day 8: Arusha – Tarangire
Following your breakfast, you will drive to Tarangire National park for the full day game drive with picnic lunches. Later drive to Maramboi Tented Camp for dinner and overnight. F/B
Day 9: Tarangire – Lake Manyara
This day after breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National park for the full day game drive with picnic lunches. Later drive to Bougainvillea Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight. F/B
Day 10: Walking at Karatu – Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast, you will be guided for short walking to the plantations, enjoy the Iraq cultural tour, then around 11am, you will start driving to Ngorongoro highlands ready to descend the largest unbroken crater for the full day game drive on the crater floor. Enjoy your picnic lunches at Nkoitoktok picnic site. Later evening ascend the crater and drive to Ngorongoro Serena/Sopa Lodge for dinner and overnight. F/B
Day 11: Ngorongoro – Serengeti
Depart Ngorongoro after breakfast and enjoy enroute game drives to Serengeti Seronera areas for full day game drives with picnic lunches. Dinner and overnight will be at Serengeti Serena Lodge. F/B
Day 12: Full day Serengeti
Proceed with a full day game drive at the endless plains of Serengeti with picnic lunches. Later drive back to Serengeti Serena Lodge for Dinner and overnight. F/B
Day 13: Serengeti – Lake Victoria
This day you will drive to Lake Victoria areas, arrive after lunch, enjoy canoe trip at Lake Victoria to the nearby fishing village. Later return for dinner and overnight at Speke Bay Lodge. F/B
Day 14: Lake Victoria – Isibania boarder of Tanzania and Kenya
Early this day, you will drive to Isibania boarder where you will meet with Kenyan guide to proceed with safari in Kenya. Met upon arrival at the Kenya/Tanzania boundary by our safari driver, clear with immigration and customs then proceed by road to iconic Masai Mara Game Reserve; it’s one of the great wonders of the world in terms of animal migrations, As per Abc news “Good Morning America's show". Arrive at the camp in the evening, spend the rest of the day at leisure, dinner and overnight stay at Ashnil Mara Camp (D)
Day 15: Maasai Mara Game Reserve
A full day in the magnificent Masai Mara Game Reserve. The Reserve is regarded as the most spectacular wildlife viewing area in Africa with over 95 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds. Morning and afternoon game viewing or an optional morning balloon ride at an extra charges, All meals and overnight stay at Ashnil Mara Camp (B.L.D)
Day 16: Maasai Mara Game Reserve – Lake Naivasha
After breakfast at the camp, drive to Lake Naivasha and arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Great Rift Valley lakes and the second largest freshwater lake in Kenya with over 450 species of birds. Spend the afternoon at leisure or have several optional activities such as nature walk, bird walk along the shore of the lake, visit to Crescent Island, cultural dance, rock climbing, boat trips in the lake or excursions to Hell’s Gate National Park, one of the few remaining places where you can walk alongside wildlife. Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (B.L.D)
Day 17: Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru National park
After breakfast, depart by road on a day trip to Lake Nakuru National Park with picnic lunch. Enjoy full day game viewing in the park, Lake Nakuru is a shallow alkaline lake famous for its flamingo population estimated to be more than a million hence it is referred to as the ‘Birds Paradise’ by birdwatchers. It is also the best place to see the leopard, black rhino and the endangered Rothschild giraffe. Later in the day, drive back to Naivasha Dinner and overnight stay at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge (B.L.D)
Day 18: Lake Naivasha – Samburu Game Reserve
Breakfast will be served at lodge, thereafter depart by road to Samburu Game Reserve. Arrive at the camp after lunch, enjoy an afternoon game viewing in the reserve which is famous for its rare species of fauna known as the ‘Samburu five’ and vast, and open landscapes. Dinner and overnight stay at Ashnil Samburu Camp (B.L.D)
Day 19: Samburu Game Reserve
Spend this full day at Samburu game Reserve, morning and afternoon game viewing searching for the ‘Samburu five’ which includes the long necked gerenuk, the reticulated giraffe, Gravy’s zebra, the beisa oryx and the Somali ostrich among other wildlife. All meals and overnight stay at Ashnil Samburu Camp (B.L.D)
Day 20: Samburu Game Reserve – Aberdare National park
After breakfast at the camp, drive to the Aberdare Country Club arrives in time for Lunch. Afternoon transfer with the lodge vehicle to The Ark Lodge for bird watching and overnight floodlit game viewing from the lodge viewing decks. Ark Lodge, set in the heart of the Aberdare National Park, is an unique tree lodge with a veranda that overlooks a floodlit waterhole and saltlick allowing undisturbed views of wildlife visiting the waterhole. Elephant, rhino, leopard, bushbuck and occasionally an elusive bongo and giant forest hog have been sighted. Dinner and overnight stay at The Ark Lodge (B.L.D)
Day 21: Aberdare National park – Amboseli National Park
After breakfast, return to Aberdare Country Club. You will be met with your driver and proceed by road to Amboseli National Park. Arrive at the lodge in time for lunch. Afternoon game viewing in the park which is set at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro which is at 5,896 meters, the highest freestanding mountain in the world and topped by one fifth of all the ice in Africa. Amboseli is famous for the big families of Elephants, Lions, Cheetahs, Gazelles, Impalas, zebras etc. Dinner and overnight stay at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge (B.L.D)
Day 22: Amboseli National Park
Breakfast will be served the lodge and thereafter morning game viewing in this park which is famous for its tranquil beauty that allows fabulous wildlife viewing, photography and easy approachable wildlife which include big families of Elephants, Lions and Cheetahs etc. An optional visit to Maasai cultural village that reveals the singing and dancing that are part of their daily lives and sacred rituals. A glimpse into their homes and social structure is a memorable experience. They live in close harmony with the environment and the wild animals that surround them. Lunch will be served at the lodge followed by afternoon game viewing. Dinner and overnight stay at Amboseli Serena Safari Lodge (B.L.D)
Day 23: Departure Day
Breakfast will be served at the lodge, game viewing en-route to Nairobi. Lunch will be served at a city restaurant in Nairobi, transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your international departure flight.
