Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti Wonderful Adventure.

Written on: December 05, 2014   |   I visited in July 2014 My husband and I were delighted with the responsiveness, efficiency and general professionalism of Maasai Wanderings. We wanted to visit both the Ngorongoro Crater and go to the Mara River for a hoped for wildebeest migratory crossing. Donna in the office always replied to our many and varied questions extremely promptly and formulated an itinerary which was ideal for us.
The vehicles were not plush, but they were utilitarian and exactly what was needed for the bumpy roads and multitudes of gulleys in the nature reserves. Our driver for the whole trip was David Anatory and I cannot praise him highly enough. His knowledge of the local flora and fauna was second to none, he even made a tortoise interesting! More importantly though he knew the habitat and animal habits so well we often saw things with his “pole pole” (slowly, slowly) attitude that a lot of the other tour guides missed for their clients; for example he spotted a leopard on a huge boulder quite a long distance from the road and we watched for 20 minutes whilst a small group of zebra wandered by (which could have, but did not, result in a chase) – two other vehicles saw us, stopped, assumed we were only watching the zebra and drove off – seeing an elusive leopard, one of the “big five” is a bonus and you need a good guide. For us, and many of you reading this review, this is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure holiday – choose wisely, choose Maasai Wanderings.

It is with reluctance that I post this review as the guides and ancillary staff we encountered in the Masai Wanderings tented camps were superb: well trained, professional, courteous, good fun and very knowledgeable. It was a pleasure to be with them. We saw some marvellous sights.
The problem was the cavalier attitude towards clients (clients paying a lot for th... read more

What a wonderful safari. Maasai Wanderings organised the trip according to all requests and gave even more. The whole trip exceeded any expectations we had. The two drivers we had in Kenya (Antonio) and Tanzania Chris) were extremely respectful, intelligent, knowledgeable and ethical. We were impressed with their patience of our continual questions and requests for... read more

Our group of four (family and friends) worked directly with Donna at Maasai Wanderings to customize a safari to fit our interests. From arrival at Kilimanjaro to departure from the Lobo airstrip for a Zanzibar beach stay, everything was beautifully planned. We began with an day trip to Arusha Nat'l Park to 'meet' our first wildlife and take time for a ranger-led h... read more

Our trip, organised entirely by Maasai Wanderings, was the most incredible holiday my husband and I have experienced. From the moment we arrived, everything was organised and such a smooth process. All our accommodation was 5 star and the service from staff always of such a high standard.

Our guide collected us from the airport and spent the next 7 days with us... read more

A friend recommended Maasai Wanderings for their high level of service, ease of communication when making plans, quality of guides, accommodations and value. We couldn't agree more!

Donna customized our itinerary around our daughter's schedule as a volunteer in Mwanza and our wish list for safari. The amount of time we spent intimately observing wild animals ex... read more

We have just recently come back from a week with Maasai Wanderings in the Serengeti and I have to say it was the best holiday we have ever had.

From the very start when Peter, our guide/driver collected us at Kilimanjaro, travel weary and a little unsure what we were about to encounter to the very end when Peter dropped us back at Arusha, it was magical. The mi... read more

We did a two-day wildlife safari followed by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. The trip was organized by Maasai Wanderings and they did an excellent job in every respect.

Our wildlife safari was at Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater and it only whetted our appetite for more. I hope we can return for a longer safari in a year or two. We had an outstanding guide, Ever... read more

My partner, myself and a friend were looking at going over to Tanzania we wanted to climb Kili and go on a safari, but had absolutely no idea how where, why, what would be involved.

I was trying to sort through websites and tour operators and a lot of companies had only specific dates that group tours were starting, and if we wanted to go privately, we were payi... read more
