A narrow belt of acacia woodland is the favored haunt of Manyara’s legendary tree-climbing lions and impressively tusked elephants & provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. Overnight at the Migunga Forest Camp  / (BLD)

Day 11: Today you enter into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and safari Ndutu. Encounters with the Maasai are common in this region. They are renowned for their bright dress, bead work and legendary ceremonies. There are lots of resident game animals in the Ndutu. All six species of cat can be found year round in this area: Lion, Cheetah, Leopard, Serval, African Wildcat and Caracal, some easier to spot than others! The diverse eco-systems, from woodlands, to plains, to soda lakes, within the Ndutu area make it a unique place for bird watching. Overnight at the Lake Masek Tented Camp (BLD)

Day 12: Another safari day of the Ndutu Region. On these plains, in January or February, there is a three week window in which the wildebeest cows will congregate to give birth, in an extraordinarily coordinated bout of calving. The intention is to overwhelm the predators by sheer numbers when the young calves are at their most vulnerable so, as you'd expect there is lots of lion, hyena and cheetah action during this time. Overnight at the Lake Masek Tented Camp (BLD).

Day 13 : Today you will enter into and safari The Serengeti, the mother of all game parks. Experience one of the oldest eco systems known to man, where little has changed for thousands of years. The combination of location and resident prey attracts the largest populations of predators in Africa. Overnight at the Kenzan Camp (BLD)

Day 14: Today is another day safari of the central Serengeti, also referred to as” Cat Central” and home to the big territorial cats. The largest pride of resident lions and cheetahs are found in central part of the Serengeti year round, lazing around the many clusters of Kopjes (rock outcrops). You will continue your safari into the southern region of the Serengeti. Overnight at the Kenzan Camp (BLD)

Day 15. : Today you will exit the Serengeti, then re-enter the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will transfer, rest up and overnight at the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge  (BLD).

Day 16 : This morning you will descend over 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, the eighth wonder of the World. This  vast caldera offers you some mind blowing views from the crater rim to the grassy floor 600 meters below, and is the center piece of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, an extension of the Serengeti national park where Maasai pastoralists still herd their cattle amidst herds of big game. The crater also forms a natural sanctuary within a sanctuary, providing refuge to the world’s densest lion and hyena populations, some seriously impressive tuskers and the endangered black rhino. You will exit the crater mid-afternoon with the option to partake in a guided Ngorongoro Hike and take in the surrounding scenic area. Overnight again at the Ngorongoro Rhino Lodge  (BLD)

Day 17 : And now for something completely different and a wonderful way to end your safari. Today your party will transfer to one of the local airstrips where a plane will whisk you away to the beautiful and exotic archipelago of Zanzibar landing on the main island of Unguja. You will be welcomed at the airport by a Lion Dog African Safari representative holding up a sign with your last name on it and transferred to your hotel in Stone Town. Overnight at the Dhow Palace Hotel (SV)
