Somalisa Camp

A small intimate tented camp tucked away subtly under a canopy of an acacia tree island on an ancient river system. This unbeatable wild elephant sanctuary is known for its large herds of elephant and the Somalisa concession in Hwange National Park affords you with your private African wildlife encounters from the minute you step out of your tent.

Wildlife & Activities

  • The environment : The largest reserve in Zimbabwe is home to one of the highest concentration of game: the park boasts more than 100 different animal species and over 400 species of birds. Moreover, Hwange is world famous for its 30,000 elephants, making it one of the few great elephant sanctuaries left in Africa.
  • Wildlife : Walking and game drives will allow you the opportunity to observe elephant, kudu and sable antelope, zebra, wildebeest, gemsbok, the rare and endangered roan antelope, buffalo, giraffe, white rhino, lion, leopard, hyena, and many other wildlife species. The Kennedy vlei is littered with flamboyant colours from all its seasonal wild flowers that emerge as the first rains begin, and as the grass dries out, the large herds of buffalo, zebra and elephant are in abundance.
  • Safari Activities : Activities include guided walks game drives and spot lighting as well as game viewing from hides. All are lead by qualified and passionate guides who will share their knowledge and love of the bush with you.

Zambezi Lifestyles Camp

An intimate 8 bedded camp, fit for private safaris, set up prior to your arrival, the mobile luxury tented camp is designed to give you access to the Zambezi river affording you canoeing excursions on the river, fishing either from the banks or off an island in the middle of the Zambezi river, tracking game on foot or the shore as well as traditional game drives.

This experience is enjoyed by people who seek adventure and exercise whilst absorbing the peace and tranquility of the Zambezi river.

  • The environment : Mana Pools is a legendary national park, well known for its wildlife rich flood plains, the mighty Zambezi River and the magnificent views of the back drop of the Zambezi escarpment. The river boasts of some of Africa’s most amazing tiger fishing and adventure canoeing safaris. The combination of all of these make this World Heritage site a must visit national park.
  • Wildlife : You will be paddling among an abundance of elephant, hippo, big herds of buffalo, and explore a rich aquatic life under a sky inhabited by fantastic bird species. On a walking safari, you will have a chance to view a wide range of large mammals (lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, wild dog, crocodile, zebra, eland, sable, kudu antelope, giraffe, and over 350 bird species.
  • Canoeing: You are expected to be fit, but no canoeing experience is necessary. You will be paddling in a steady current of about five kilometers an hour , and won’t be going through any rapids.
  • Walking: Canoeing is usually combined with walking and exploring the Mana Pools wilderness areas, which are off the beaten track.
  • Fishing is possible during the excusrsion on the river, either from the banks or off an island in the middle of the Zambezi river.
  • Game drives along the flood plain in open 4 x 4 Land cruisers are one of the main highlights, taking you into the core of the wildlife scene that is abounding with a diversity of wildlife.
  • Typical safari day: The early start in the morning getting on the water and going down river for a couple of hours passing hippos and a menagerie of birds on the way. We stop of a walk on the main land getting up close to Elephant, Buffalo, Eland, Zebra, Kudu and numerous other animals. After a leisurely cooked full English breakfast cooked on the side of the river, we continue down the river. Arriving in our next camp site in the late afternoon in time for tea, cake and a game drive to see the interior if the Park with its extensive Acacia woodlands and the African tradition a sundowner.

Kanga Camp

The private concession is set away from the crowds in a remote part of the legendary Mana pools where a private safari experience is the focus, and tracking wildlife on foot is a specialty.
A 12 bedded seasonal camp built around a water hole, which acts as the main attraction for wildlife in the area as it is the only source of permanent water in the location.
Walking and game-drive activities in the area can be complimented with trips to the Zambezi flood plain experience. Water based activities such as fishing and canoeing can be arranged in advance and on special request.

Wildlife & Activities

  • The environment : Kanga Pan can be best described as an explorer’s paradise… an untamed area within the UNESCO World Heritage site of Mana Pools, it gives you the pure and unspoilt African experience. The area is very diverse and permanent water source makes it a hub for wildlife.
  • Wildlife : Mana Pools is a pure wilderness area where the animal is king; the game is extremely accessible and can be approached on foot. Kanga Pan, as a permanent water source in the area, attracts animals to its waterhole all year round, including many larger species such as elephant and buffalo, and where plains game such as kudu, zebra, impala and waterbuck are also found. In addition, Kanga Pan is a Predator’s paradise; a resident lion pride lives permanently in the vicinity of the camp, wild dogs and leopards are often sighted. Hyena, cheetah, and crocodile are also present. An extensive and varied amount of birdlife can be enjoyed from the main area of the Camp.
  • Safari Activities : Activities will include game drives in open four-wheel drive vehicles and night drives, but the most unique and exciting activity is tracking wild life on foot with a professional guide: the possibility to leave your vehicle, or even walk out of the camp with an experienced professional guide is a rare experience in National Parks, and this is one of the best walking territories in Africa. You will enjoy thrilling nature walks to areas unreachable by car, and get even closer to nature and the animals. Kanga is the only private concession in Mana Pools: so you are unlikely to meet anyone when on game-viewing excursions, and you will get a true sense of privacy. Canoeing safaris on the Zambezi can be organised on request in advance, as well as full-day excursions to the Zambezi River.
