I visited in August 2015
The tour that was planned for us was stunning and the accommodations were fantastic. The communication was fine and everything was legit (if somebody is concerned). Also, the price compared with other safari companies was absolutely correct. The only thing you should know (and we did not because it was our first time in Africa) is that even your guide is included in the price you have to calculate quite a lot for the "tips". We thought 20 dollar a day will be fine but then our guide told us he made up with Tony that we have to pay him 10% of the whole trip extra as tip. Nobody communicated something like that to us and I really would have appreciated to know that in advance. Also I thought that more than 300 dollar for 7 days is quite a lot as tip ...at least here in Austria. In the end we gave him around 200 dollar and he was quite happy.
Like I read before also we had a change in accommodation without telling us but we are open and spontaneous persons so that we had no problems with that. And, hey, it's Africa so hakuna matata just enjoy. Thanks to the spontaneous change in the Serengeti National park I had the best night in my life sleeping in an overwhelming tent (with own shower and real bed so not really what you would call a tent at all) where I could listen to the lions during night.
Besides the not communicated tip situation (and everybody we met in Africa told us the same) it was for sure the time of our life. The next time we go to Africa (and I definitely lost my heart to this place) I would absolutely do it again with Kapolondo without any doubt.
I was in a group of 10 on a safari with Kapolondo Expeditions in end June 2016. We had fully paid for our safari a month before. However, at the Serengeti National Park, Tony told his driver to get all of us to pay for the entrance fee and he will repay us the next day. Otherwise, we will not be able to enter. Left without a choice, we paid over USD630 for the 10 o...
After good reviews on Internet, I contacted Tony Kopolondo in July 2015 and booked the 15-day Kenya and Tanzania safari tour. I transferred 50% of the tour cost to his bank account in Tanzania on July 11, 2015. The original tour departure date was June 22, 2016.
I sent my flight details in May 2016, one month before the tour schedule date and asked Tony to send m...
Let me start off by saying that I booked with this company based on the very specific itinerary that they offered and because of the great reviews. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT!!! Either "Tony" the company owner/manager decided that he didn't want to do his job and provide the exact itinerary that we booked and paid for, or "Tony" just doesn't have the clout and ability t...
We bought a luxury safari, especially because we travelled with a 9 month baby. We needed security and comfort.
But, instead, we had to stay in budget lodge (We paid 4720 USD per person). When we told him we were angry, he did nothing. During all the safari, he didn't respect his contract, he never informs us in advance of change. If he was correct, if an hotel i...
My friends and I (5 Malaysians, 4 Americans and 1 European nationalities) booked a safari for 10 persons with Kapolondo Expeditions (through Tony Kapolondo) from 27th June to 5th July 2016. We went on that safari and stayed three nights at Serengeti National Park and a few other national parks and venues. Unfortunately, we were scammed during the trip. Details are ...
Beware. We appreciated all the promises and communications with Tony before our trip.
Upon arrival (which was late), he changed prices, gave us a junky car that needed to be push started daily, changed every place we had hand picked to sleep at, was late in depositing funds onto the atm card our driver/guide had to use to enter the park, changed our time in Taran...
Kapolondo Expeditions is not a good travel agency. We had reserved a private safari with luxury lodges,
instead we had to travel with a another man in cheap lodge or hotel outside park. The itinery had been changed without our agreement.
For example, one day at Ngorongoro instead of two, and not in Sopa Lodge that we had reserved and paid. We were placed in a ve...
I move a lot for work, and I'm a very frequent traveler having been to probably 40-something countries and counting. It's kind of a tradition of mine that I take a trip every year on my birthday. Six months prior to it, I must have seen something online about Ngorongoro Crater or Zanzibar, and it really stuck in my head. After about a month of consideration I to...
From our first enquiry the communication was fast, clear and helpful. We were very fortunate to have James as our tour driver. He was knowledgeable on all the subjects we threw at him - flora, fauna, politics, etc. and he accommodated our desire to take lots of photographs with good humour. He quickly learned the sorts of things we looked out for. He had a big chal...
