Day 1: Arrival for Uganda - Rwanda safari
On arrival at the airport, you will be met by Kagera Safaris staff or representative driver guide and taken to your hotel for overnight
Day 2 : Travel Murchison falls via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary
We will have an early breakfast so that we start journey to Murchison Falls National park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. The Rhino sanctuary is an endeavor to re-introduce Rhinos to the wild in Uganda. You will have an opportunity to track the Rhinos on foot with an armed ranger and have some photo sessions.
We shall then have lunch and proceed to the park with a stopover at the top of Murchison falls to see how the Mighty Nile forces itself through a narrow 7 metres gorge producing the strongest falls in the world.
Day 3: Game viewing and boat safari - Murchison falls national park
After an early breakfast, we go to the Northern banks of River Nile for game viewing, we look out for Hyenas, Leopards, Elephants, Hartebeests, Oribi, Uganda Kobs, giraffes, lions among others.
In the afternoon,enjoy a scenic boat ride on the Victoria Nile that takes you to the bottom of the falls. The boat ride will offers opportunities for watching game associated with water such as crocodiles, hippos and those that come for water like elephants, buffaloes plus plenty of birds like the Kingfishers.
Day 4: Transfer to Kibale forest
Today we start journey to the primate capital of East Africa – Kibale forest. This journey will be rewarded with stunning views as you pass small villages and local markets and eventually arriving in the park later that afternoon.
Day 5: Chimp tracking in Kibale Forest
Have an early breakfast andleave for the briefing point where visitors are required to arrive at 7.00am ready to walk in the tropical forest to track Chimps. Observe the Chimps as they feed, groom and playwith one another. The rain forest is also home to the red-tailed monkeys, black-and-white Columbus monkeys and other primates, various species of birds and butterflies.
Bigodi Village is conserving Bigodi swamp as an eco-tourism site. We encourage our visitors to visit it and enjoy the rich diversity of birds and primates depending on the availability of time.
Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park for a Boat safari on Kazinga Channel
We leave for Queen Elizabeth National Park in the morning after breakfast. We hope to arrive in the park in time for lunch and join the boat safari on Kazinga Channel after that.Kazinga Channel connects Lakes Edward and George and it is home to the highest concentration of Hippos in the world.
Day 7: Ishasha in searh of the tree climbing lions
The day begins early – game drive to the mating ground of the Uganda Kob in search of the Lions, Warthogs, Elephants and buffaloes etc. and leave for Ishasha with a picnic lunch as we search for the tree climbing lions.
Day 8: Transfer to Rwanda - Volcanoes national park
Today we plan to leave for Rwanda through the Cyanika border. This drive offers you amazing sights through the Kigezi region also known as the Switzerland of Africa. Leading to the Virunga region shared between Rwanda, Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo. Arrive at your lodge later in the afternoon.
Day 9: Gorilla Trekking
After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up from the Lodge and you will be driven to the RDB office at 6:30am for briefing before beginning the Gorilla trekking at 7am. Enjoy a cup of coffeebefore starting the trek for mountain Gorillas.
Volcanoes National Park is home to the rare mountain gorilla with a rich medley of montane ecosystems, which embrace open grassland,evergreen and bamboo forest, swamp and moorland. Once the gorillas are located you are allowed to spend up to an hour with the remarkably peaceful gorillas despite their size and appearance. Watch them go about their daily life, feeding, playingwith their young and resting.
Return to the Lodge for lunch and have a relaxed afternoon.
Day 10: Lake Kivu
In the morning after an early breakfast, we set off for Gisenyi – where Lake Kivu is located. Explore the beautiful Lake Kivu with a boat trip to the numerous islands, islets and peninsulas.
After the experience proceed to Nyungwe Forest, arriving at the Lodge later that evening ready to experience the forest canopy the next day.
Day 11: Nyungwe forest canopy walk
You leave for the Visitor Centre for the Canopy Walk. This tour will offer you an experience of the forest canopy and the ranger guide will provide information on the tropical rainforest ecosystem and its importance to Rwanda and the region.
Day 12: Depart Rwanda
The next morning after having an early breakfast, we start our journey to Kigali for flight out, safe travels.
This will mark the end of your Ugandan/ Rwandan Safari.
