13 Day Wilderness and Coast

Sit back and relax on a great and safe journey in either camping or lodge accommodation, to Xai -Xai in Mozambique , where you will enjoy snorkeling, on the reef that is running parallel to the shore, swimming , kayaking e.g. on the long sweeping beach. We then make our way to the Kruger national park, one of the largest game reserves in Africa, which provides a unique combination of wilderness areas. From here we enter into Botswana which lies in the Kalahari, but is nevertheless a country of great diversity, and one of the places where you can go on safari by house-boat, magoro (dugout canoe) or motor boat. Then to our destination at Chobe national park, home of the greatest elephant population and that offers sensational game viewing. Our last destination will be at Victoria Falls, the adventure activity capital, with its magnificent waterfall that is known as "the smoke that thunders", before we turn back south to Johannesburg.

Day 1:

Pick you up at 05h00 from OR Tambo International Airport or nearby lodge/hotel. We will depart 06h00 to Alzu Petro Port where we will stop for breakfast (own expense). We then head for Kaapsehoop, also known as a Fairytale town with a rich and monumental history. The wild horses in Kaapsehoop are remnants of British troops stationed here, during the South African War, and they were left to the wild when the Kaapsehoop police station was shut down many years ago to make way for motorized transport. After our visit in Kaapsehoop we will enjoy a lunch in Nelspruit (own expense). We then continue our journey up to our camp or lodge in Komatipoort, which lies at the point at which the Komati and Crocodile rivers meet on the western slopes of the Lebombo Mountain, which form a natural barrier between South Africa and Mozambique. We will enjoy a nice dinner before we get to retire to our suite or tent for some peaceful sleep before the next exciting day. (Dinner)

Day 2:

Up at 06h00 so that we can have breakfast at 07h00, before leaving at 08h00. From here, we will make our way to Lebombo Border Post and into Mozambique. Mozambique is one of the world’s best tropical holiday destinations, with its miles of untouched naturally beautiful coastline. We will make our way to Xai-Xai one of the most picturesque areas in Mozambique, with spectacular views of pristine beaches and the crystal clear water of the Indian Ocean. We will book into our lodge/ camp, and enjoy a lunch in Xai-Xai. Then we will book our optional activities for the next day. These activities include snorkeling, fishing, scuba diving, jet sky, whale watching and many more Later the evening we will enjoy a hearty dinner. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3:

This day will be spent on our own leisure after breakfast, with our optional activities. This popular destination has the world in its oyster. The massive reef running parallel to the beach provides natural protection against the strong waves at high tide, and forms several small pools at low tide. Snorkeling and diving are such much enjoyed during low tide. We will get together later that evening for dinner. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 4:

An early rise as we have breakfast at 07h00, before leaving our lodge/ camp at 08h00 to Lebombo Border Post, back into South Africa again. We will stop in Komatipoort to enjoy lunch. After lunch we will continue to our next destination, South Africa’s world renowned Kruger National Park, which offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. We will enter in the Kruger at Crocodile Bridge Gate and work our way to Lower Sabie. This area attracts large numbers of game and is abundant in cheetah, lion, elephant, hippos, rhino and large herds of buffalo. Here we will book into our lodge/ camp ,at Lower Sabie. At 17h00 we will go on a sunset game drive. With majestic African sunset as the backdrop, the animals become more active again, and the nocturnal animals get ready for their hunting. At our return from the game drive we will enjoy a hearty dinner. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5:

Up at 05h00 leaving the camp as soon as the gates open, and see if we can spot the early morning activities of the Big Five. This African safari experience will be one that lingers in your mind and awakens a deep passion for Africa. The best game viewing is to be found first thing in the morning at drinking holes. We will be making our way to Tshokwane  picnic spot where we will have breakfast in the open. From here we will explore the park and wildlife till we reach Satara , where we will enjoy a lunch. After lunch we will work our way to Letaba that means “ river of sand” and the sandy riverbed makes for excellent game viewing, particularly elephants , which abound in the area. We will visit the Elephant Museum , that houses the enormous tusks of the “ Magnificent Seven” –the seven greatest elephants ever to roam in the Kruger National Park. Then we will enjoy a nice dinner, before we go on a night game drive, with park rangers to spot the night wildlife in their action. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 6:

Up at 05h00 leaving the camp as soon as the gates open, and work our way to Phalaborwa Gate  still straight into prime game viewing areas where we hope to catch a glimpse of some amazing animals found here. We will stop in Phalaborwa for breakfast, and then will continue our journey to Polokwane/Pietersburg where we will enjoy a lunch later the afternoon. From here we will work our way to Martins Drift Border Post and will enter Botswana, where we will book into our lodge /camp. Later the evening we will enjoy a dinner while overlooking the Limpopo River. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7:

An early rise as we have breakfast at 07h00, before leaving our lodge/camp at 08h00. We travel via Palapye that means “place of Impalas”. We head straight to Francistown where we will stop for lunch. From here we travel to the North-Eastern part of Botswana, where we will book into our overnight lodge/ camp. Since there are no fences all wildlife can roam freely from one waterhole to another, and one can expect to see anything during your stay at Elephant Sands-“ where Elephants Rule  “. It is one of the most unique and amazing experiences to watch wild elephants and their behavior at such close proximity. Finally, after dinner we get to retire to our suite or tent, for some peaceful sleep before the next exciting day. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8:

Early morning rise as we already have breakfast at 07h00. We leave our camp at 08h00 and make our way to the North of Botswana. We will have a quick stop at Pandamatenga, before carrying on to Kasane, where we will enjoy lunch .At 15h00 we will go on a boat cruise on the Mighty Chobe River to spot some wildlife in the Chobe National Park. After our wildlife experience, we will book into our lodge/camp and will enjoy a nice dinner later that evening. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 9:

We will be up at 05h00 to go on a 06h00 morning game drive into the Chobe National Park, accompanied by experienced rangers. On our return at around 09h00 we will enjoy brunch, and then make our way to Kazangula Border Post into Zimbabwe. We head for Victoria Falls so that we can get there in time to make bookings for our optional activities such as:  white river rafting, bungi, big swing. After setting in at our lodge/ camp we will leave to explore the Magnificent Victoria Falls. Victoria Falls is known as the greatest curtain of falling water in the world. Columns of spray can be seen from miles away. At the height of the rainy season, more than five hundred million cubic meters of water per minute plummet over the edge, over a width of nearby two kilometers into a gorge over one hundred meters below. Later we will head back to our lodge/camp for dinner at the restaurant. (Brunch, Dinner)

Day 10:

This day is spent at our leisure for the optional activities at the Falls, after enjoying breakfast. After a full day of excitement we will come together for a dinner at the restaurant that evening. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 11:

As the sun rise, we will have breakfast at 07h00 and then make our way via Kazangula Border Post back into Botswana again. From here we will continue our journey to Pandamatenga where we will stop for en-route lunch. Then we travel to our last destination for the day, where we will book into our lodge/camp. At 16h00 we will go on a Makgadikgadi Pan trip . Makgadikgadi Pan Game Reserve is a salt pan, one of the largest salt flats in the world. The pan is all that remains of the formerly enormous Lake Makgadikgadi. In wet season, the pan becomes an important habitat for migrating animals, including wildebeest and one of the Africa’s biggest zebra population, and large predators that prey on them. The pan is home of one of only two breeding populations of greater flamingo’s in Southern Africa. After our Makgadikgadi Pan excursion, we will return to our lodge/camp where we will enjoy dinner. Day 12:

Early morning rise as we have breakfast at 07h00 we leave Nata via Francistown, the second largest city of Botswana, and enjoy a nice lunch that afternoon. From here we head straight back to Palapye, where we will book into our lodge/camp and enjoy a hearty dinner that evening. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 13:

Up at 05h00 to leave Palapye at 06h00 for Martins Drift Border Post. From here we make our way to Mokopane/Potgietersrus where we will stop for brunch, before leaving on to our last stretch to Johannesburg. We will be in Johannesburg round about 18h00 where we will say our goodbyes at OR Tambo International Airport or lodge/hotel nearby. (Brunch)
