Day1: Arrival and Visit to Ngamba Islands

On arrival at Entebbe International Airport, our representative will meet greet and transfer to your accommodation for the night at Lake Heights Hotel Entebbe. Meal plan BB

 Depending on your arrival time, visit Ngamba Island chimpanzee sanctuary situated on a small Island on Lake Victoria. This is a sanctuary for orphaned chimpanzees, victims of illegal trade and Habitat Destruction. The Islands is now home to over 45 chimpanzees.  Enjoy a guided tour of the sanctuary and a close up experience as they come to the boundary for their morning or afternoon feeding. Cold drinks, tea and coffee are available on the Island including a unique gift shop. (Please note this visit may also be scheduled on the last day of your safari)

Entebbe is a small quiet town situated along the shores of the beautiful lake Victoria and it is easy to explore on foot or even on the local transportation motor bikes popularly known as the “bodabodas” Visit the local markets for crafts, curio shops for souvenirs and the Botanical Gardens on the shores of lake victoria and watch monkeys jumping from one tree to the other and you may also spot native bird species. Entebbe being a tourist town has a wide variety of restaurants serving many different cuisines as well as several bars and clubs where you can sample the local beer, catch a game of football and chat with the local Ugandans, known for their open and friendly nature.

Day 2: Drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park driving through the beautiful country side and for most part of the journey, you will be viewing the long horned ankole cattle , banana and tea plantations and as you continue through Kabale – Kigezi region there are highlands and low valleys that are most times cultivated and this beautiful area is often referred to as the “Switzerland” of Africa.We will arrive in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park late afternoon. Located in south western Uganda on the edge of the Great Rift Valley, Bwindi Forest is considered the most diverse forest in Uganda. The park contains almost one half of the world’s population of the endangered Mountain Gorilla, making it an extremely valuable conservation site. Bwindi is also home to several endangered bird species with very limited ranges, and acts as an important catchment area for many rivers, supplying water for agriculture in the surrounding region.

 Other activities that can be enjoyed in and around this park include forest walks, visits to a local school or orphanage or Batwa pygmy village, and curio shopping.   

Day 3: The encounter with mountains gorillas

Following early breakfast 6:30am, you will transfer to the head trail for the gorilla group you will be allocated for your tracking today and there you will have your morning briefing by the park rangers before entering the gorilla sanctuary. You will walk through the dense rainforest crisscrossed by numerous animal trails. The thrill of spending time and observing the gorillas is one of the most memorable experiences on this safari.  Gorillas are shy and peaceful. Watch and photograph them as they interact and groom each other. 
Following the trek, return to your accommodation and, if time allows, take a guided afternoon forest or community walk. Please note: tracking may be fairly strenuous with treks up to six hours or longer, at high altitudes. Also, mountain gorillas are wild animals and, as such, sightings cannot be guaranteed. However viewing success rates are over 90%.
Day 4: Second Gorilla tracking day

If you are not going for the second Gorilla trekking you can choose between Community walk or the Batwa community experience. Please let us know at the time of booking. Following the second Gorilla tracking experience, we will then transfer to Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth national park for dinner and over night at Ishasha Jungle lodge.

Ishasha Jungle Lodge is located 2km off Katokye Gate of Queen Elizabeth National Park along River Ntungwe. This is the perfect location for your photographic safaris in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park and a stopover on the way to Bwindi National Park. The lodge is surrounded by riparian forest vegetation and acacias Savanna. The perfect lodge for a true jungle experience.
 

Day 5: Tree climbing lions of Ishasha
Following breakfast at your Lodge, transfer to QENP driving through the Ishasha Sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park for wildlife drive in the open savannah on the edge of the Albertine Rift Valley. You will search for the typical tree climbing lions found only in this part of the country. It is impressive to see them lying on the branches of fig trees (weather permitting).  In the afternoon drive to the Kyambura Game lodge for dinner and overnight.  Please note today we will have packed lunch as we will spend much of the midmorning on a game drive in the Ishasha region. www.kyamburagamelodge.com  
Kyambura Game Lodge  is an exquisite safari lodge perched on the edge of Queen Elizabeth National park.

Day 6: Wildlife drive and Boat cruise along Kazinga Channel.
This day starts with an early morning game drive along Kasenyi and Queens’ mile tracks in the park and you may be able to see lions, elephants, Cape buffaloes, warthogs, leopards, spotted hyena, mongoose, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, topi and a lot of small animals and birds. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relax. Following lunch, enjoy a two hour boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a good opportunity for birding, as you will see many water birds, cormorants, pelicans, eagles, and many others as well as crocodiles, hippos, elephants, buffaloes. The seven mid-level Forest Cottages are private and en-suite with spacious bathrooms, 2x Twin size Beds or 1x King Size Bed as well as a spacious veranda over-looking the rain-forest with lounge chairs

Day 7:  Chimpanzees trekking in Kibale National Park
Morning nature walk in the forest in search for the chimpanzees. This park has the largest concentration of chimpanzees and other primates in Uganda.  These primates are very mobile and viewing them is unpredictable but forest walk is enriching, this activity starts at 8.00 am and takes about 4 to 5 hours. This forest is home to large numbers of chimpanzees and other primates including phoestes, Red-colobuses, Blues, Red-tailed, grey cheeked mangabeys, birds, and butterflies. The guide will provide detailed explanations about primates and all the forest’s fauna and flora.  Lunch at Primate Lodge in Kibale Forest . Afternoon we will go for another enriching walk to the Bigodi swamp which is habitat for variety bird species and some primates. Dinner and overnight as above.
 

Day 8 : Reserved for departure from Entebbe International Airport
Transfer to Kampala, for shopping, crafts and souvenirs from some of the craft markets in Kampala, Lunch at Ihamba Restaurant where you can also visit the Uganda museum located right beside the Restaurant.
Overnight optional. If staying in Entebbe, please request assistance at time of booking safari. If departing Entebbe same night, please note your vehicle returns to Entebbe late afternoon (approximately 4:00 pm) so DO NOT book flights departing prior to 8:  00 pm in order to allow time for security, check in and any delays.
