Arrive Entebbe, met and transferred to the Lake Victoria Serena for overnight.
After breakfast, transfer to Mabamba Swamp for a canoe trip to find the rare Shoe billed stork and other water birds. The Uganda Equator where the universe is divided into two equal hemispheres. You can see how water drains clock wise and anti clockwise at either side of the line. Have lunch then transfer to Lake Mburo national park. A game drive on arrival introduces Zebra, Cape Buffalo, Topi, Impala as well as woodland birds. Dinner and overnight at the Mantana Safari Camp.
After breakfast at the Safari Camp, start a morning game viewing safari conducted by the ranger guide. You will be walking in the park close to the animals as the guide explains the ecosystems. Later, return for lunch before an evening drive along the shores of lake Mburo. It is possible to spot Hippo and crocodile from here. Dinner and overnight at the Mantaba Safari Camp.
Morning breakfast and transfer to Kabale to arrive in time for lunch at lake Bunyonyi. In the afternoon, take a boat trip to the punishment Island where un married, pregnant young girls would be abandoned as a way of punishing them. Return late in the evening for dinner and overnight at the Heritage Lodge.
Morning breakfast before departing for Kisoro arriving for lunch at the Lodge. The Travellers Rest Hotel Kisoro was used in the early 1960s by most of the early Mountain gorilla researchers and conservationists like George Schaller and Dian Fossey. Later, transfer to the Volcanoes area for an afternoon hike at Mgahinga national park. Return later in the evening for dinner and overnight at the Travellers Rest Kisoro.
After breakfast, drive to the park for the day’s Golden Monkey trekking in the Bamboo forests. These endangered species of monkeys live in colonies and are usually found feeding on Bamboo sprouts. In the afternoon, transfer back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the Travellers Rest Kisoro.
Morning drive through a tropical African rain forest. This impenetrable Bwindi forest hosts more than a half of the remaining Mountain Gorilla Populations in the World. Arrive at Buhoma for lunch before dinner and overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi.
After breakfast, transfer to the gorilla office for allocation of guides. This day, the trek will be to the River Munyaga Water falls to see more of what Bwindi has to offer. On the trail, you will be looking for Blue monkeys, Butterflies, rare forest birds and some of the plants that have evolved from the old world. The scenic water falls that form the source of the river marks the end of the walk and the guides will head back to base for lunch, dinner and overnight at the Gorilla Resort Bwindi.
Morning breakfast and gorilla safari briefing by the game rangers. Later, the gorilla safari starts from Buhoma to one of the Mountain gorilla groups. The gorillas will be followed by foot, with the trackers following chewed vegetation and dung. The family of Mountain gorillas is located and one hour is allowed to view and photograph them before heading back to camp for dinner and overnight at the Gorilla Resort.
The morning will be spent relaxing to recover from the previous day’s activity. After lunch, you will have a village walk that features a visit to the local herbalist, bee keeping projects, banana beer brewing and a visit to the batwa for cultural entertainment and dances. Meals and overnight at the Gorilla Resort.
To maximize the viewing of the Mountain gorillas and the interaction with them. This would be the second day of the gorilla trekking safari in Uganda. A different gorilla group is located and an hour is allowed for viewing and photography before a picnic lunch and return to base for dinner and overnight at the Gorilla Resort.
Morning breakfast before heading to the Ishasha plains. The Lions in this part of the national park do climb trees in the early afternoon to cool off, as well as escaping from the bugs that are found on the ground in the grasses. After lunch, travel to the Hippo pool where schools of Hippo are found grunting lazily along the banks of the river. Dinner and overnight at the Ishasha Wilderness Camp.
Morning game drive in the Ishasha looking for Topi, Elephant, Uganda Kob and other wildlife before heading to the Chambura gorge with picnic lunch. In the afternoon, a chimpanzee trek gets you walking down the gorge floor through the forest for an afternoon chimpanzee trekking. Later, transfer to your overnight lodge for dinner and overnight at the Chambura game lodge.
Breakfast early and drive to the kasenyi area for the morning game viewing. The wildlife to see includes: Waterbuck, Lion, elephant, hyena, Leopard and others. After lunch, transfer to the Mweya Penisular for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. Animals along the banks include: Hippo, crocodile, Cape Buffalo, migrant water birds, monitor lizards as well as the elephants that come down for a drink. From here, an evening drive ends at the lodge for dinner and overnight at the Chambura Game Lodge.
After breakfast, have a morning drive en route to the Kibale Forest. Arrive in time for lunch and an afternoon swim before dinner and overnight at the Ndali Lodge.
Morning transfer after breakfast to the kanyanchu tourist centre for the morning chimpanzee trekking safari. A troop of chimps is tracked by the ranger guides and followed up to as close as 10 metres. An hour is allowed for viewing the Chimpanzees before heading back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at the Ndali Lodge.
Morning drive northwards towards Muchison falls. This is a long safari day and we will break the journey mid way. Stop over for lunch enroute before heading to masindi for dinner and overnight at the Masindi Hotel.
Breakfast at leisure before heading into Murchison falls national park. A walking safari at the top of the Murchison Falls lets you explore the Bat Caves that sometimes attract African rock pythons and the Bat Hawks. The Magnificent Nile is compressed into a few meters to form a series of white water rapids. Later, transfer to Paraa Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.
Morning breakfast and a game walking and driving safari in the Delta Area. Wildlife in this area includes Elephant, Oribi, Uganda Kob, Cape Buffalo, Rothschild Giraffe, Leopard, Lion and other wildlife. In the afternoon, the Nile safari aboard the flat-bottomed boats gets you a couple of metres close to Nile crocodile, migrant water birds, Elephant and other wildlife that comes to the river edge to cool off from the afternoon heat. Later, return to the Lodge for dinner and overnight at the Paraa Safari Lodge.
Morning breakfast and transfer to Nakasongola with a picnic lunch. You head into the Ziwa Sanctuary where you will be tracking the African White Rhinos. After lunch, proceed to Kampala for overnight at the Kampala Serena Hotel.
Morning transfer to Entebbe for a morning boat transfer to the Ngamba Chimpanzee Island. This is one of Jane Goodall’s projects that takes care of the orphaned chimps that are rescued from traffickers. You will be allowed about an hour viewing the chimpanzees from a raised platform before sailing to the Entebbe mainland for overnight at the Boma.
Day Twenty Two:
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for the departure flight.
