Day 1: Mafia Island- Ras Kilimani ruins Tour
Take the skies or boat and head for the Mafia Archipelago. On the arrival, visit the Ras Kilimani ruins. Mafia is derived from the medieval Arabic term “Marfiyah” which means “a group” referring to the group of islands where it belongs- although other etymologists suggest an archaic Kiswahili short term “Mahali pa afya” meaning a healthy place (to rest). After your Ras Kilimani tour, then transfer to Chole Island by a boat. Dinner and overnight at a Lodge/Resort in Chole
Day 2: Chole Island- Chole Mjini
Explore the magical Chole Mjini. The Island itself is not only a pristine botanical paradise with its ancient Baobab forest but it’s also an archaeological treasure trove of centuries old history contained in the ruins of what was the main city of the Mashatiri, the local Arab elite. Dinner and overnight at a Lodge/Resort in Chole
Day 3-4: Beach Holiday Relaxation
Mafia is a popular diving, snorkeling and sport fishing destination. Chole Island is rich in underwater resources and aquatic species including unspoilt coral reefs, green turtles and the threatened dugong as it is the world best diving and snorkeling in the marine park.
For sundowners who seek the impulse for the rarity of solitude, can plump themselves for the chance to read a book on a golden sandbank and to some point take a stroll through the village to see the lifestyle of the choleans. Dinner and overnight at a Lodge/Resort in Chole
