Day 1 – Arrive Harare International Airport where you will be met by Doug Macdonald and after customs and Immigration
formalities taken to your private charter plane for the flight to Gona re Zhou National Park. We will be met at the air strip
and after loading up the open safari vehicle we set off for the first part of our safari. We will be camping in a comfortable
mobile camp for three nights, with all en suite facilities and dining tent set up on the banks of the Runde River overlooked
by the famous and beautiful Chilojo Cliffs. The game viewing is excellent in this area and there are a number of different
habitats to explore by driving and walking which hopefully will produce some excellent sightings.
Day 4 – We spend the day game viewing both on foot and by vehicle as we make our way further downstream of the
Runde River to where it meets one of Zimbabwe’s largest rivers the Save. This is beautiful and remote wildlife areas that
teem with game and birdlife that come into these magnificent natural waterholes – it really is a paradise in this area. We
shall spend two nights camping here.
Day 6 – We cross over the Save River and meet our charter plane for the flight to Bulawayo – the city of Kings. From here we take a road transfer
to the amazing Matobo Hills National Park and our lodge Big Cave Camp set in amongst the rocks. The views across the broken granite
kopjes are amazing and always changing in the afternoon light. Our afternoon will be spent game viewing and on the look
out for some of the Rhino, both black and white that live here in this park finishing with a gorgeous sunset over the
vastness of these hills.
Day 7 – Today we focus on seeing more of the park and some of the amazing aspects of this park that make it so unique –
there is evidence here of continuous human settlement for the past 150 000 years so we will take in some of these
amazing sites and finish with a sunset from World’s View the resting place for some of the major players of the early
colonial days of Zimbabwe including Cecil John Rhodes – a day of great interest, beautiful scenery and great game viewing.
Day 8 - We leave the Matobo Hills and travel by road through to Hwange National Park. The road transfer will take us
through some wonderful teak forests, traditional villages and fantastic vistas over the Zimbabwean countryside. When we
arrive in Hwange an open game viewing vehicle will be there to meet us and we will drive into camp, game viewing all the
way through some prime areas and stopping for a packed lunch and cold drink at one of the many pans in Hwange. Our
camp here will be the small Somalisa Acacia camp for the next three nights. This is a semi permanent camp annexed to the
main camp but with its own dining area and waterhole which is visited daily by herds of animals and gives you a very close
and intimate experience with elephants coming to drink during the heat of the day. The Hwange National Park is a park
with one of the greatest diversities of wildlife anywhere in Africa and we will search through this remote area of the park
and its various habitats for this stunning array of animals.
Day 11 – After breakfast and maybe a quick game viewing activity we will then get an air charter from here through to Victoria Falls. On our way
we will fly over the whole Hwange National Park and have an aerial view of the Falls themselves. After landing we will be transferred to our very comfortable lodge, Victoria falls Safari Lodge, which has one of the finest views in the area over the vast Zambezi National Park and the Zambezi River. The afternoon will be spent at the Victoira Falls themselves which is a sight that will be etched into your memory for a lifetime.
Day 12 – You will have a transfer to the airport that will be timed to meet your International flight.
