On arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi, you will be met by a Discover Africa representative who will assist you to your waiting vehicle and transfer you to Eka Hotel, where accommodation will be arranged for you for the night. This is also the same hotel where a day room will be reserved for you on the last day of the safari.
Enjoy an early breakfast before your guide will meet you and introduce you to your fellow travellers, if you haven't already made their acquaintance. Your journey, done in a customized luxury 4x4 vehicle, will take you north, through dramatic landscapes and through a part of the Great Rift Valley.
There will be a lunch stop at Barney's Restaurant in Nanyuki before your journey continues to Meru, with a late afternoon arrival at Elsa's Kopje. Your stay at Elsa's Kopje will offer activities such as guided bush walks, bush meals, visits to the local school and communities, fishing in the Tana River or Rojewero Rivers, a sundowner, or simply relax by the swimming pool.
Elsa's Koje has been earmarked as the rescuer of Meru National Park, which was on the verge of been completely forgotten. The unique cottages are crafted around the rocks and trees, each offering grand views of Meru National Park.
A picnic lunch is included on today's journey, which travels through semi-desert countryside, arriving at Loisaba Kiboko Starbeds in the afternoon (accommodation may be moved to Loisaba Tented Camp, depending on availability). An early evening sundowner will lead you in to the evening, where dinner will be enjoyed at the lodge. Game viewing at Loisaba offers unique sightings of the elusive greater kudu and large elephant herds. You can also try your hand at horse and camel riding and doing some mountain biking.
Nakuru National Park is your destination today, and you will reach it in time for lunch. You'll spend the night at Nakuru Sopa lodge, and spend the afternoon with the visit to Lake Nakuru to witness the pink flamingo's that have made the park famous.
An early morning departure takes you from Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge through to Kericho, which is an area that specialises in tea growing. A picnic lunch will be on offer before your descent to the Mara. You will spend the next two night at Sand River Mara. The Masai Mara is known for its vast reserve, show-casing some of the best game viewing in Kenya. The game drives and sundowners on offer make this one of the highlights of the trip.
Optional activity is a hot air baloon safari. This experince allows you to float above the wildlife of the Mara, seeing the game from a very unique viewpoint. Advance booking is required, subject to availability and needs to be prepaid alog with your safari.
Driving along the Great Rift Valley and along the escarpment, your journey makes a full circle back to Nairobi. You will be in time for a late lunch (not included) before checking into the hotel, which has been reserved for you on a day-room basis. Once you've relaxed a bit and freshened up, you'll be taken to the Carnivore Restaurant for a farewell dinner, before been transferred back to the airport for your flight home.
