Day 1 – Kigali
On arrival at Kigali International Airport we will welcome you and transfer to the hotel, Umubano Hotel (C) or Golf Hills Hotel (E) for the overnight in BB.

Day 2 – Kigali - Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast we suggest for you the city tour of Kigali. The capital town of Rwanda is found at an altitude of about 1800 meters above sea level and it is spread along various hills making the different local areas. You can visit the Genocide Memorial of Gisozi, the Camp Kigali, the Natural History Museum. Moreover, there are interesting traditional local markets, like in Muhima or the Caplaki center.
After lunch, leave Kigali in the direction of Musanze (Ruhengeri) at the gate of Volcanoes National Park. The park with 125 square km in size is named after the Virunga volcanoes, set along the border between Rwanda and Congo.
You check in at your lodge, dinner and overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (C) or Hotel Muhavura – Le Bamboo Lodge (E). Full Board

Day 3 - Mountain gorilla tracking
After breakfast, at 7 in the morning starts the trekking in the forest in search for one of the habituated families of the mountain gorillas. After the briefing from the park rangers, you will reach the starting point for the trekking. Bring with you water and packed lunch, while wearing trekking boots. It is not predictable the time you will spend to find the gorillas. After you finally reach and see the gorillas, you have right to one hour for observing the primates and their behaviors, while taking photographs.
In the afternoon we advise to take a cultural walk in one of the ecotourist sites of the communities around Kinigi, like Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, which will help you to see closer the real life of people, their traditions and even to see the Intore dancers performing. Return to the lodge at leisure. Dinner overnight at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (C) or Hotel Muhavura – Le Bamboo Lodge (E). Full Board

Day 4 - The shores of Lake Kivu from Gisenyi
After breakfast, leave Musanze (Ruhengeri) and proceed southwards along the shores of Lake Kivu. The road passes across the Gishwati Forest, which in future is expected will be a new national park. Arrive in Kibuye in time for lunch.
You can relax at leisure or, optional, we can arrange a boat trip to the closest islands on the lake, to discover unspoiled places and sceneries. Dinner and overnight at Cormoran Lodge (C) or Bethanie Hotel (E). Full Board
Note: If today you with to take another optional trekking in Volcanoes National Park, you can do it with a supplement and we advise to choose between the golden monkeys trekking or visit the Old Karisoke Research Centre and the tombs of Dian Fossey and the mountain gorillas.
Today transfer is about 3 hours drive.

Day 5 – The South West of Rwanda
After breakfast, you leave Kibuye in the direction of Nyungwe National Park in the South West of Rwanda. The park covers an area of 1020 square km of green hills, the largest uncontaminated piece of tropical forest in Eastern Africa. Nyungwe hosts 13 species of primates, including the chimpanzee (the count is about 500), the Rwenzori colobus, the Hoest Monkey, the silver monkey, owl faced monkey, red tailed monkey, vervet monkey and olive baboon. Nyungwe is also the first birding destination in Rwanda, with over 310 species of birds.
Lunch, dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (C) or Gisakura Guest House or similar (E). Full Board
NOTE: Today’s journey might take about 4 hours according to the conditions of the roads.

Day 6 - The primates of Nyungwe National Park

There are two sites where this activity is conducted: the Uwinka visitor center and Cyamudongo Forest, which is part of the national park. Return to the lodge for your lunch.
In the afternoon, optional activity: you might try the “canopy walk” which is only found in Nyungwe or try another short forest trail or go for birding.
Dinner and overnight at Nyungwe Forest Lodge (C) or Gisakura Guest House or similar (E). Full Board

Day 7 – Butare – Nyanza - Kigali
