Spend 6 days exploring what Zambia has to offer. Start off with 3 nights in the spectacular South Luangwa Valley at Mfuwe Lodge followed by 3 nights in Africa’s adventure playground, Livingstone at the Sun International Resort.

Day 1:

Arrive in Lusaka at 07h00 off BA Flight from London

Or Arrive in Lusaka off SAA flight from Johannesburg (4 flights throughout the day) Or Arrive in Livingstone at 12h30 off SAA flight from Johannesburg. Arrive at Mfuwe International airport off Proflight flight from Lusaka in the afternoon around 16h30 and transfer to Mfuwe Lodge.

Mfuwe Lodge is an award winning safari lodge set in the most prolific game area of the South Luangwa. The perfect place to enjoy excellent game viewing, and recharge your batteries. This region of the park is renowned for its prolific game – giraffe, buffalo, antelope, crocodile are constant visitors to Mfuwe Lodge’s lagoon, whilst in November the local elephants regularly wander right through the lobby, lured by a nearby wild mango tree. Voted Best Lodge in Zambia in 2009 Mfuwe Lodge also offers you the chance to relax at its Bush-Spa.

Guests can either choose to spend the afternoon at leisure, or partake on an afternoon/ evening game drive or perhaps spend the rest of the afternoon at the Spa.

 

Day 2:

06h00 - Wake Up with early morning tea/coffee/snacks.

07h00 - Depart for early morning Game drive. While out on your drive you will enjoy mid morning tea/coffee and snacks in the bush or along the banks of the Lusangwa river.

11h00 - Return to Mfuwe Lodge for brunch.

12h00 - 15h00 is known as “Siesta time” where guests are given time to catch up on sleep due to the early morning start or relax by the pool watching the game at the waterhole in front of the lodge.

15h00 - Afternoon tea and snacks are served before departing for you evening game drive.

16h00 - Depart for evening Game drive. with an early morning walk or game drive followed by a sumptuous lunch at the lodge and an afternoon siesta. End the day with another exhilarating evening game drive.

19h30 - Return to the lodge and freshen up for dinner on the deck at 20h00.

 

Day 3:

06h30 - Wake up with early morning tea/coffee.

07h30 - Depart for morning game drive as well as Breakfast in the bush.

11h00 - Return to the lodge for lunch.

12h00 - 14h00 - Relax for the next 3 hours around the pool.

14h00 - Depart for visit to Tribal Textiles. A local craft company producing vibrant and beautiful designs for you to purchase as souvenirs. Employing over150 staff, they actively support and fund-raise for the local community school, Malimba, educating over 160 children.

15h30 - Return to the lodge for afternoon tea and snacks.

16h00 - Depart for your evening activity, a walking safari.

18h30 - Return to the lodge and freshen up for dinner.

19h30 - Dinner in the “African Theatre.” Providing entertainment as well as a superb location for your evening meal.

 

Day 4:

07h00 - Wake up.

07h30 - Breakfast at the lodge.

08h00 - Depart for Mfuwe International Airport to connect onto Proflight flight to Lusaka at.

09h40 to connect onto 12h00 flight to Livingstone.

13h10 - Arrive at Livingstone International Airport and transfer to the Sun International Resort, The Zambezi Sun.

Sun International Resort is only moments from the Zambezi River with the dramatic torrent of the Victoria Falls as its natural backdrop, is the magnificent Falls Resort, situated in the 46-hectare Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Wildlife Park. The Resort incorporates the three-star Zambezi Sun, and the sophisticated five-star hotel, The Royal Livingstone, a sophisticated five-star hotel. The Resort incorporates an Activity Centre where travel professionals will advise and recommend a variety of excursions and safaris.

14h00 - Arrive at the Zambezi Sun.

The Zambezi Sun, located on the edge of the eastern cataract of the Victoria Falls, reflects the richness and diversity of the country’s heritage; capturing the very soul of Africa – unpretentious, fun and welcoming. With its warm, earthy architecture, inspired by an African walled village and simple finishes highlighted in bright mosaics and fabrics as well as intoxicating Zambian artworks and accessories, the Zambezi Sun is set to turn your stay into a memorable experience.

15h30 - Depart for Sunset Cruise aboard the African Queen.

The African Queen Cruise Company operates two luxurious vessels. The African Queen was launched on the 7th of May 2001; she is a triple deck, 70 ft catamaran, furnished with Rhodesian teak, beech wood and brass finishes and accommodates a total of 120 passengers. The African Princess was launched on the 31st March 2005 and is similar in design and build to the African Queen, although slightly smaller, with a passenger carrying capacity of 80 passengers. From our luxurious cruises on the Zambezi River, you can experience all the wonders of nature that this mighty river has to offer.

19h30 - Dinner at the Maramba Dinner Site.

situated on the banks of the Maramba River, 800 metres from its confluence with the Zambezi River, just above the Victoria Falls. Maramba Riverside Site is surrounded by virgin African bush making this an exquisite location for daytime or evening functions. Added entertainment can be organized in the form of The Drumming Co., who offer an interactive drumming experience for guests.

 

Day 5:

07h00 - Breakfast at the Zambezi Sun.

07h30 - Jet Boating.

The Jet Boat Extreme tour starts at The Victoria Falls Activity Centre and you are transferred by specially adapted Land-Rover vehicles (approximately 1 hour) to your entry point at the gorge. You meander down the gorge approximately 880 feet in a scenic cable car lift, where you meet your jet boat pilot for a briefing. Water and soft drinks are available. One of the most thrilling 30 minutes of your life is about to begin. After the ride, you no longer have to walk the 880 feet out of the gorge as you now board the cable car for the 8 minute ride out. Ice-cold beer and soft drinks await you at the top.

12h00 - Lunch at the Gorge. Calabash Company.

17h00 - Depart for dinner on the Royal Livingstone Express.

The Royal Livingstone Express consists of 5 air-conditioned carriages, 2 dining cars, a club/ kitchen car, lounge car, and an observation car and is pulled by either a 10th class No. 156 or a 12th class No. 204 locomotive. One of the dining cars, The Wembley, was built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and Wagon Company, and went on display in London at the British Empire Exhibition in 1924. It was shipped to the Union of South Africa and entered service on 19th May 1926 and hence acquired the name - The Wembley.

19h30 - Dinner at The Boma. The Mukuni Boma

An authentic Boma, crafted in traditional Zambian manner, accommodates a minimum of 60 and maximum of 300 people for an unforgettable evening under Crystal African Skies. The Boma is located within the resort, accessible by foot from both Hotels. Traditional entertainment from the Marimba Band to Acrobats, Traditional Beer Brewers to the Sangoma is available on request at an additional cost. The smell of wood smoke, the taste of spit roasted venison and the rumble of drums will capture this magical night under African Skies. Please refer to menu pack for available Boma menus.

 

Day 6:

07h00 - Breakfast at the Zambezi Sun.

07h30 - Depart for Chobe Day Trip.

The Chobe National Park in Botswana is only a 1¾ hour drive from Livingstone. It is one of the greatest game reserves in southern Africa and home to the largest elephant population in the world. The Chobe River flows lazily through the Caprivi flood plains and provides a haven for huge herds of buffalo and elephant, zebra, wildebeest and impala which are followed closely by predators including lion, hyena, the elusive leopard and the odd pack of the now rare wild dog. The bird life in particular is exceptional.

Travelling to Chobe National Park includes an exciting crossing by boat of the Zambezi River at the convergence of four African countries: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Namibia. This safari starts with a morning game viewing cruise on the Chobe River with tea, coffee, drinks and light snacks served on board. Large flocks of birds, thunders of hippos and enormous crocodiles are in abundance. After disembarking, lunch is served at Chobe Safari Lodge which overlooks the Chobe River and the plains beyond. In the afternoon, open safari vehicles are used for a game drive into the park. The game drive meanders its way back to Customs & Immigration, before crossing the Zambezi River and then transferring to Livingstone.

 

Day 7:

08h00 - Breakfast at the Zambezi sun.

08h30 - Guided Tour of the Falls.

To discover how the Falls were formed and what local customs and traditions surround them it is well worth taking a guided tour. These tours are extremely informative and end with a visit to the local art and crafts centre. Tours may be conducted from the Zambian or Zimbabwean side of the Zambezi River and last for 1½ hours in Zambia.

11h00 - Depart for Livingstone International Airport for Proflight flight to Lusaka at 12h30 OR SAA flight to Johannesburg at 13h15.
