You will be picked by our guide from your Nairobi hotel after breakfast and drive through the spectacular Great Rift Valley with a stop-over at the view point en-route to Maasai Mara. Maasai Mara is world famous for the annual great wildebeest migration that takes place in July and August where close to a million wildebeest close the Mara River in search of pasture. After lunch our guide will take you for your first game drive, you will be surprised by the high concentration of wild animals in this reserve. Here herds of elephants roam freely, wildebeest, buffalos, impalas, Thomson’s gazelles and Zebras graze in their numbers. Big cats are not hard to spot either including the elusive leopard, it is one of the few place you are guaranteed to spot the famous Big Five (elephant, rhino, buffalo, leopard and lion) on a single morning or afternoon. Return to your camp or lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 02 Maasai Mara Game Reserve
Spend the entire day exploring this world famous game reserve. This reserve is not only the most popular game reserve in the country, it is probably why people visit Kenya. The reserve is set on a classic African savannah and the huge density of wildlife is astounding. Zebras, wildebeest and gazelles graze in large herds and as a matter of fact where prey is in plenty so are the predators. The reserve covers an area of approximately 1510 sq km of open grassland waters by the Mara River and Talek which is a tributary of the former. Here it is very common to see the big cats hunting; they are also in their numbers. The leopard is the hardest to spot of the famous Big Five, but in Mara it not as hard to see it relaxing on a tree. Hippos, buffaloes, elephants, giraffes also exist in large numbers. Return to the camp for overnight
(NB: You may opt to forego one of your game drives for a visit to a Maasai village for an amazing cultural experience. Balloon Safaris over the reserve are also available at an extra cost)
