Day 1: Nairobi/Amboseli
In the morning you will either be picked from the airport or Nairobi hotel then depart for Amboseli National Park where you will arrive for lunch at campsite. Later proceed for game drive in search of gigantic elephants the park is famous for not forgetting the views of Mt. Kilimanjaro on a clear day with chances of seeing lions, giraffe, zebra, buffalo, hippos, and different species of birds. Dinner and overnight at budget camp
Day 2: Amboseli
You will spend the whole day exploring Amboseli National park mainly with more chance of seeing wild animals and Kilimanjaro if you missed on the previous day and a chance to walk to the lookout hill with all meals served and overnight at budget camp
Day 3: Amboseli / Lake Naivasha-Crescent Island
After an early breakfast leave Amboseli passing via the outskirts of Nairobi and proceed to Lake Naivasha where you will arrive for lunch followed by a visit to Crescent Island where you will walk among giraffe, zebra, monkey among other wild. Return to budget camp for dinner and overnight
Day 4: Lake Naivasha-Hell’s gate & Elsamere conservancy
After breakfast depart for Hell’s gate park where you will have a chance to either cycle or to walk among giraffe, Zebra, gazelles and different species of birds followed by a guided walk through the gorge before you return to budget camp for lunch and later proceed to Elsamere Conservancy which is the former home of the late Joy Adamson, arriving in time to visit the Museum which contains a small collection of Joy's paintings and artefacts. You will also have a chance of seeing the memorabilia from the film Born Free and a range of photos documenting Joy and George's work with wildlife. Return to budget camp for dinner and overnight
Day 5: Lake Naivasha/Maasai mara
After breakfast proceed to Maasai mara where you will arrive for lunch at budget camp then proceed for game drive before you return to budget camp for dinner followed by overnight.
Day 6: Masai Mara Game Reserve
optional hot air balloon ride. Breakfast will be served then with picnic lunch depart for a full day game viewing in search of black manned lion, elephant, leopard and cheetah, buffalo among other plains game and a visit to the mara river where you will have a chance of seeing hippo and crocodile and if you are lucky you will have a chance to witness the famous wildebeest migration (July-September). Proceed to budget camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 7: Maasai Mara/Nakuru
Early morning game drive followed by late breakfast then with picnic lunch leave Mara with optional visit to Maasai cultural village en route as you depart for Narok and continue with your journey to Nakuru where you will arrive for dinner and overnight at guest house/budget hotel
Day 8: Lake Nakuru/Lake Baringo
After an early breakfast proceed for game drive where you will have a chance of seeing rhino, giraffe, buffalo, zebra among other species not forgetting exploring the shores of Lake Nakuru and if you are lucky you might see flamingos. Return to guest house/budget hotel for lunch then depart for Lake Baringo where you will arrive for dinner and overnight at guest house/budget hotel.
Day 9: Lake Baringo & Lake Bogoria
In the morning proceed for two hour's boat ride to explore Lake Baringo which is inhabited by hippos, crocodiles and you will have a chance of seeing different species of birds followed by breakfast. Relax as you wait for lunch. Later depart for Lake Bogoria where you will have a chance of seeing the natural hot geyser's and if you are lucky you might see flamingos at the Shores of Lake Bogoria. Return to guest house/budget hotel for dinner followed by overnight.
Day 10: Lake Baringo/Subukia
After breakfast depart from Lake Baringo via the spectacular Menengai volcanic crater, where you will make a stopover for the picturesque crater. Proceed to Subukia farm where you will arrive for lunch at budget camp followed by a guided bird-watching walk and a visit to the tea and coffee processing operations before you return to budget camp to wait for dinner and overnight.
Day 11: Subukia/Ol pejeta game sanctuary
After breakfast leave Subukia with picnic lunch followed by a stopover at the equator for photo and demonstration then proceed to Ol Pejeta game sanctuary where you will have a chance to see the rhino, elephant, buffalo, warthog, lion not forgetting the chance to see the Chimpanzee before you proceed to budget camp/hotel to wait for dinner followed by overnight.
Day 12: Nanyuki/Samburu
After breakfast proceed to Isiolo then an unforgettable journey into Samburu Game Reserve - a haven of beauty and peace in semi-arid land, rugged landscape and majestic surroundings where you will arrive for lunch at budget camp followed by game drive and later depart for game drive. Return to the budget camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 13: Samburu
You will spend the full day exploring Samburu game reserve where you will have a chance to see Grevy Zebra, Beisa Oryx, Reticulated giraffe, Somali Ostrich, long-necked gerenuk, dainty dik dik, as well as some of the most beautiful bird life in Kenya. You'll also see herds of elephant, plains game and their predators. Dinner and overnight at budget camp.
Day 14: Samburu/Nanyuki
After breakfast leave Samburu for where you will arrive in time for lunch at budget camp and later you will prepare for the mountain climb. Dinner and overnight at budget camp.
Day 15: Nanyuki/Sirimon gate-Old Moses (3300m)
After breakfast proceed to Sirimon park gate where you will go through the park formalities then commence our ascent of Mt Kenya, following the Sirimon route, this is one of the longest and gentlest on the mountain. It is also one of the most spectacular. We walk up to our first campsite at 3,000m, a total ascent of 700m in just 2-3 hours. On this route, we will pass through zones of dense forest, bamboo, giant heather and out onto high open moorland. 3-4 hours.
Day 16: Old Moses/Shiptons camp (4200m)
Traversing the Likii valley, climb and pass over a ridge to enter on a steep descent into the picturesque Mackinder,s . You arrive at Shiptons camp for hot lunch( or hot Lunch en route depending on your trekking pace.) after a 4 hour trek. Afternoon/ Evening at leisure.
Day 17:Shipton's Camp-Acclimatisation trek to Hausberg Col. 4,600m. (approx. 7Kms return. / 4-5hrs). Ascent +364m
This is invaluable day spent for acclimatisation and will make the summit day more enjoyable. Highly recommended is a short walk on the summit circuit trail up to the Hausberg col (4,6OOm) OR go farther, passing between Oblong and Hausberg Tarns to Nanyuki and Two Tarns to enjoy panoramic views of peaks Batian (5199m) and Nelion (5188m). Having reached a high altitude of over 4600m the true acclimatisation benefit of this day becomes clear, Climbing high and sleeping low is excellent for acclimatisation.
Day 18: To Lenana Summit, 4,985m & down to Lake Elis 3,600m.
Trek via the Summit to Lake Elis, (approx. 15Kms / 10hrs.) Ascent: 749m to the summit then descend -3600m to Lake Elis. After the rest day comes the highlight of the Mount Kenya trek: the stiff, but exhilarating, scramble by starlight up to Point Lenana, the "trekkers' summit", in time to see the African dawn from a vantage point of nearly 5,000m. We leave at 4am and climb the 800m to the peak in 4 hours. A further 3 hours down to a late breakfast by Hall Tarns in the magnificent Gorges Valley. Then in the afternoon another 3 hours down past spectacular chasms, waterfalls and weirdly eroded lava flows. descend further down to Lake Elis one of the biggest lakes on the mountain. Spend the rest of the evening relaxing by the lakeside.
Day 19: To Meru Bandas, 3,000m. Trek.
After breakfast descend further down to Meru Bandas campsite . This is a simple trek through the Giant heather and rosewood forest to Meru bandas campsite arriving for lunch and spend the rest of the evening relaxing by the campsite. Wildlife viewing in the evening at a nearby valley can be organized.
Day 20: To pick up point, 2,600m. trek./Nairobi
After breakfast walk down through the giant bamboo forest to meet your transfer vehicle to Chogoria then board your vehicle to Nairobi where you will arrive in time to be dropped off at the airport to catch your home bound flight
