Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport- Arusha
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), and you will be greeted and welcomed by an ANDA team representative who will be there waiting for your arrival. We will give you an orientation and briefing on what to expect on your tour while you are taken to your hotel in Arusha.
Day 2: Arusha- Tarangire National Park
We leave your hotel at 7:00 am and we will take you to Nakumatt, the local grocery store, where you will get a chance to buy any items you would like to bring on your journey. While everything is included, any additional items like snacks, sunblock can be bought there before you begin your tour. A packed lunch will be provided and enough drinking water for the duration of your trip. After registering and paying the necessary park entrance fees, you will embark on your first of many game drives inside Tarangire. Tarangire is famously known for its largest concentration of Elephants, Baobab trees and the magnificent scenery. (Tarangire is excellent and worth visiting in the months of June to November. Those are the best months to visit these parks although during March-May both are still worth visiting.) Your game drive will last until early evening after which you will be taken to your lodging for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Tarangire National Park- Serengeti National Park
We will wake up for breakfast, then pack all our gear and start our drive towards Serengeti at around 8:00am. A packed lunch will be provided in the afternoon. Serengeti is one of the 7 Natural Wonders of Africa and one of the 10 Natural Wonders of the World. It is famous for its Wildebeest Migration that is mentioned by many as the greatest natural wildlife show on Earth. The Serengeti is said to have over 3 million large mammals and nearly 500 species of birds! It is not unusual to see the “Big 5″ in one day (lion, rhino, elephant, leopard and African buffalo) and hopefully get a chance to see predators during a chase while it hunts its prey! You will do an en-route game drive while you head to the northern part of the park for your dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park
We have an early breakfast in the morning at around 6:00 am in time to catch a great sunrise over the African savannah. (Alternatively you can embark on a 1 hour balloon safari starting at 6:00 am for an additional cost of $500 per person). We recommend the Northern part of Serengeti because it is the area where you can see and follow the migratory path of the animals. The Great Migration is best seen during June – September. Either way, you will be blessed with panoramic views, amazing wildlife and once in a lifetime photos! Serengeti is also the last natural grazing ecosystem in the world. After a full day of game driving, we will return to your accommodation in the evening for a hot shower, dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Serengeti National Park- Ngorongoro Crater
Wake up early morning before breakfast for a quick coffee and go for a game drive in the Serengeti. You guide will show you the best places for some unforgettable wildlife action. We will return to your accommodation around noon for a hot brunch (breakfast and lunch combined). After, we will start driving towards the Ngorongoro Crater. Enroute, you will get an opportunity to visit a Maasai boma (village) and spend some time learning about their traditions and culture. You’ll have a chance to hear traditional songs, see them dance, as well as learn about how they live. Feel free to ask them questions! That evening, you will be based at the crater rim with fantastic views overlooking the crater floor.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Ctater floor- Arusha
We start with another early departure at 6:00 am. Ngorongoro game drives are excellent all year round and early mornings are a very good time for wildlife viewing and an excellent time to take sunrise photos. You will have magnificent views while descending the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is the largest unbroken caldera in the world and boasts the most diverse group of animals anywhere.
It is known as the “cradle of humankind” and it is one of the only conversations where people are allowed to live with the wildlife. What’s more, the nomadic Maasai people are able to coexist peacefully with the wildlife in the crater. After your picnic lunch in the crater, you will ascend back to the rim and then drive back to Arusha for your dinner and overnight stay.
