This 4 day Gorilla Trek and Lake Kivu Safari starts and ends in Kigali. It involves visit Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda for gorilla trekking. The scenery in the shadow of the volcanoes is one of the most breathtaking in Africa. Later, head to Gisenyi and relax at the shores of Lake Kivu.

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

You will be picked up at your preferred hotel in Kigali and carry out some shopping and a visit to Gisozi genocide memorial centre and later, drive north of the country to Volcanoes National Park.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

Have an early morning breakfast and be transferred to the Park headquarters for a gorilla briefing before the trek. After this you will set out in the forest to search for these rare Mountain Gorillas. The time you will spend in the forest searching for the Gorillas is not predictable as it depends on where they spend the last night. After coming across the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their company while taking their photos, observing their behaviour and feeding patterns, before retracing your way back to the headquarters for certificate issuing. Return to the lodge for relaxation and if time allows, carry out a community walk.

Day 3: Transfer to Gisenyi town

After breakfast, you will depart Kinigi to Gisenyi town which is located on the shores of Lake Kivu. Upon arrival, have lunch and after you can take an optional visit at the Imbabazi Orphanage which provides education, skills training and income generating opportunities to orphans. Otherwise, you can relax on the beach as you wait for your dinner and overnight

Day 4: Depart for Kigali
