We recently went on an eight-day safari with Abacus Vacations. We were very pleased with our guide, Gerald. He was a great game spotter and very patient with the stops we wanted to make. We saw the Ziwa Rhino sanctuary, Murchison Falls, cruised the Nile, Kibale National Park, Queen Elizabeth Park, boat trip on the Kazinga Channel, Kalinzu Forest Reserve, Bwindi Nat... read more

Going on a gorilla trek in a natural UNESCO Heritage site is what makes Bwindi Impenetrable National park a special experience and standing out. Uganda has 12 habituated gorilla families from which you track gorillas from. This has reduced on pressure from clients who in early days would struggle to secure a permit for the trek.

Woke up with morning coffee before setting off for a great game viewing that started with leopard, lions, elephant, great jackal, kob, Hartebeast, giraffe, warthog, hippo, monkey, baboons and lots of birds, all in the space of an hour and a half.

Murchison Falls boasts a wealth of very beautiful scenery. Combine that with an afternoon trip up the Nile to the bot... read more

The park is known to have the highest concentration wildlife in Uganda. Tree-climbing lions can be seen draped in trees in the Ishasha sector, and the variety of birds is spectacular! Over 612 bird species have been recorded in the area among which include the Lappet-faced Vultures, the rare shoe bill stork, pick-backed pelicans, black bee-eater, palm-nut and the A... read more

Volcanoes National Park has 8 habituated groups of gorillas available for daily tracking and up to 8 visitors are allowed per day, for one hour only. Gorilla treks can be over and done with in less than 3 hours or, in adverse circumstances, take 8 or more hours. The guides are well-trained, fluent in English and it's best to make use of the blue uniformed porters, ... read more

Abacus African Team took time off and visited Kidepo Valley National Park and it was one of our favorite activities we did in 2015. It is a bit of a drive to get there, but so worth it.

The scenery is absolutely mind blowing but even more amazing is the fact that it is still relatively unvisited so you literally feel like you have the park to yourself. We were... read more

Lake Mburo National Park is well-located between Entebbe and Bwindi and makes a good stop to avoid a really long drive. The park has no lions or elephants so it is perhaps not as exciting in a large animal aspect. It does have giraffes, Burchell's zebra and impala, which are not seen in many places in Uganda.

Other species that are resident here include warthog... read more
